Photokina 2018 Q&A - What would you ask Ricoh?
Posted By aiki76

1) what is the finantial condition of Ricoh Imaging?

2) DSLR may be seen as an obsolete technology with declining market share: will Ricoh continue in this direction or mirrorless is the future also for Pentax?

3) any plan to develop in-camera focus stacking?

4) any plan to develop automated lens autofocus calibration?

5) any plan to revamp existing DA* lens with new AF?

6) are there planned lens for Q system?

7) any plan to develop a joint venture with other brands, like Leica, Panasonic and Sigma?

8) Pentax was famous for its compact and lightweight lenses, while the last introductions are bulky and heavy. Is it a consolidated trend?

9) when will we see new bodies and lenses?

I have this problem with my K3II, with non-original batteries only (by now), when they are close to the end of charge.

it is not a sistematic error, it's something random: sometimes it's precise, sometimes not, on subjects to the infinite

I noted a lack of AF precision with the Sigma, sometimes the focus is wrong, particularly with distant subjects, but it is not a problem of AF fine adjustment (it's ok)

Thanks to Uncle Vania and to you.
Your experience with both lenses is interesting for me: how does they compare in terms of optical performance, also without the TC?

Hi everybody,

I currently have a Sigma 100-300 f/4 and I'd like to ask to the other users what is their experience with this lens using the HD teleconverter: the performance of the couple (both optical and for the AF standpoint) justifyies the purchase of the TC?

How the Sigma compares with the DA*60-250 in terms of optical and AF performance, both with and without TC, based on your direct experience?

Thanks!
Michele

likely It has been already discussed, so excuse me in advance, but what is the performance (both optically and from the AF side) of the 60 250 with the Pentax teleconverters (the new HD and the old F-AF 1.7x)?
And that of the Sigma? Thanks

The tamron lenses rebranded are identical to the original tamron lenses, in that case even the focal is different...

Correct. The problem is the loose of image quality at the borders of the frame, due to distortion and aberrations (particularly coma and astigmatism) of the wide angle lens.

Hi everybody,
I would ask what lens you would prefer to shoot night/milky way landscapes with a K3II, choosing between the Samyang/Rokinon 10/2.8 and 14/2.8, based on your direct experience.
Thanks
Michele

..or tha DA 560/5.6. Having a faster lens is always better, but the high ISO performance of the K1 (but also of the K3) is absolutely enough to get excellent results with a 5.6 lens. Also the 150-450 is reported as a very sharp lens, are you sure that the bad performance you experienced depends on the lens quality? And, before thinking to adapt a K1 to Nikon lens with the result to have a MF telephoto, I would explore other options, like getting a Pentax lens, like the FA 600/4 (if you find one). But the modern 5.6 lens should be largely to be preferred, in my opinion. Or, the last choice: get Nikon fast lens and a Nikon body. Good luck! :)

With the DA*300 I made this. In my experience, the DA*300 is a fantastic performer, even wide open, as the F* should be.

Hi, a question: in the shot with astrotracer on, an object in the background will be bigger than in the shot with the astrotracer off, because in the first shot the object will be slightly moved-stratched. How do you manage this point during the merging?
thanks

Hi Rupert,
The crop mode of the K1 gives advantages in terms of high ISO performance over the K5, in your experience, or the noise at same ISO settings is comparable?
Thanks!
