Thanks for sharing this, it's a really enjoyable read so far.
The results on the film door are amazing! It looks better than new. I really look forward to seeing how the rest of the camera turns out. I've been looking at 67's for a while now and there are quite a few out there in this kind of condition. I get the feeling that this guide is going to make it hard for me to resist buying one.

If I recall correctly what you are facing is completely normal with a 645 lens. The adapter should have a small peg on it that puts tension on the aperture lever as you stop it down. I can remember asking myself the same question while waiting for my cheap ebay adapter to arrive in the post. Unfortunately I have sold my 645 kit now, so I can't be 100% sure.
Either way, you have an excellent lens there. I was always impressed by the quality and sharpness of my 645 lenses.

Nice shots! I've passed through this part of Japan a few times, but I've never been lucky enough to get a clear sky like you have in these pictures. I'm told it's quite rare in the winter.
My personal favourite is the third shot with the sea in the foreground. As you said, I didn't even realise this angle was possible. I think the boat in the foreground also gives a nice reference point in terms of the size of the mountain.

Hi!
I've been reading these forums for a long time now, and have finally decided to take the plunge and register.
My photography hobby started about 2 years ago when I bought a Yashica Electro 35 rangefinder I saw in a local shop window (really a great camera). From there I never looked back.
Thinking I wanted something a bit more hands-on I bought a fully manual Cosina CT1 super which has really helped me to learn the basics of getting a good exposure. This camera takes K-mount lenses which is really what got me onto the Pentax brand. After I bought a SMC-A 50/1.4 lens on holiday in Japan I was completely sold.
I have just recently bought a SuperProgram camera (and a ME II winder and AF280T flash) which along with my A lens, really makes my ideal photography kit. I'm contemplating buying the new K-01, but to be honest I am really enjoying shooting film. I dont really see what a digital camera would add to my hobby at the moment (besides massive savings on film/processing costs:)).
In between all of this camera buying I have found some time to take some photos and have uploaded some of my favourites to my flickr account here. Please take a look if you have a chance.
I look forward to taking part in the forums here!
