Thanks for the thoughts... actually I'm no fan of the Zeiss. It's sharp but in a really modern way. I get a bit of an uncanny valley feeling from it. I have mostly older glass, a lot in M42 and I love the classic photographic feeling of them. But the wides tend to be less good than the normal & tele ones - and a lot slower...
I'm not looking for amazing sharpness (for example I find my SMC Tak 50/1.4 useable wide open). But something a bit less blooming and soft than the tak 35/2.
Does anyone have experience of either the Vivitar 35/1.9 or the MIR-24 35/2?

I'm looking for a possible alternative to my SMC takumar 2/35. I like the lens a lot but it's real soft wide open and... quite dark. I'm deyellowing it at the moment so that might help the dimness. But anybody have advice on a good alternative? I would prefer a manual focus lens as I will be using it primarily for filmmaking on a canon body. I'm pretty intrigued by the MIR 24...

I'm a takumar lens fan and have found the lens database super helpful whilst weighing up potential purchases. Thanks for all the great knowledge out there!
