What's the largest capacity SD card you've used in a Q?

I have a 32GB in both my Q10 & Q7.
If you have a bigger blank SD card you want to use put it in & format the card. If the capacity is too great it will not format or
it will format the maximum amount. I found this out with a 2005 vintage Nikon P&S, it would not format a card bigger than
4GB, the instruction book did not say anything since there were no SD HC cards when the camera was made. The Nikon website
only listed older SD cards for the camera I guess they did not care to provide information for their older cameras.

Help with Android apps please. I bought a refurbish Theta S
I can load pictures from the camera to my computer with a USB cable but I have not been able to use my Android phone to
control the camera. I managed to install "THETA+" to edit pictures if I can get any stored on the phone
But I could not find "theta S" on the play store, I found a app called Theta but it is comparable with Theta Z1 & Theta V.
Is there someplace I can get a program to control the Theta S & store it pictures etc.

Thanks for the help.
Adams tip to press the ok button worked. I pressed and held it for about 2 sec. the display changed from AF area
selection to allowing me to set ISO & also flash settings etc. This is the first time this camera has done it, I owned it since 2012.
This might have happened when I yet the battery become totally discharged, maybe I was trying to set it when the battery gave out.

Unable to set ISO with a K30.

I found I could not change the ISO setting on my K30. I checked thru the menus and found nothing to set it.
When I pressed the ISO button the AF area came up the other buttons moved the AF area display,
So I could not change the flash setting, drive mode or whiter balance.
With some playing around I found I Could set these things when I set mode to U1 or U2, I could also set ISO and the other things when
using Live View in the other modes but still not when using the viewfinder.
I tried taking the battery out for I few minutes & putting it back in that did not help.
It appears the switches of the 4 way controller are still good.
Is there any menu setting I am over looking, it there a reset setting.

If you don't have a changing bag you make do in a dark room with a heavy jacket that you can tie closed at the neck & Waist. You reach in thru the arms of the jacket to the camera you placed in before hand.
The jacket should have a separate liner & heavy outer fabric I have managed with a jacket no heavier than a Army field Jacket
Alternatively if you take the film to a processing mini lab, not just dropping it off at a store they may have a changing bag.

This camera should have a manual rewind option, There should be a recessed button to manually rewind the film. There is often a marking by he button that looks like the end of a film cassette with some arrows
pointing into it. Push this button in with a tip of a ball point pen or the projection on the carry strap clasp. I don't remember this camera for sure but his is normal for Pentax power wind cameras or other make
cameras for that matter.
Of coarse it the motor or wiring is toast you will have to pull the film out in a dark room or changing bag.

K-10D flips image after taking picture

My K10D never did that, but my K30 sometimes turns the image upside down. I have never figured out why, upside down ones can be next to right side up pictures. I just except I have to invert the picture before showing to other people, post processing or archiving.

Old lenses can break new bodies?

A stuck aperture pin can result in over exposure when the lens does not close down before the shutter does it thing.
I had this problem with a 28-200mm Pentax lens, I got way over exposed pictures, stopping the lens down further or increasing the shutter speed did not help.
Later I noticed the exposure was ok with the lens wide open, than I found the lazy aperture lever.

For Auto ISO, what is your maximum setting?

I did testing of my K30 mounted on a tripod of resolution charts taped to my garage door. I used a medium f stop. ISO 100, 200, 400, 800 & 1600 all gave the same resolution level. The 100 to 800 looked similar the 1600 looked much poorer even though the same lines could be resolved. ISO 3200 & 6400 fell off in resolution in addition to looking worse in other respects. I did not try ISO 12800 as I maxed out the shutter speed at this f stop.
Shooting at ISO 800 max should be ok with auto ISO setting. Shooting at ISO 800 manual can be a problem when you forget to reset it when you get to brighter light & end up with f stop 13.5 or smaller with diffraction limiting resolution & every spec of dust on the sensor showing up in clear areas.

I shot pictures in the cave in Mammoth Cave National Park, no flash, tripod or monopod allowed, often not even time to stop to take picture, I had no choice but to let in go to ISO 12800 even with the f/2.4 lens.

A great walk around lens, small & light. Not very expensive for a new lens, but review say it is as good as the expensive prime lenses in the focal length range.
The 35mm focal length as same field of view as 52.5mm on FF size. For those of us who have years of experience with 35mm film and 50-55mm lenses it is easy to find the right point to take a picture. dean45

K-5 anti-aliasing filter sharpness

I'm having an issue. I did a little sharpness test with my 18-55mm and Pentax FA 50mm f/1.4. I didn't see a lot of difference between two lenses at what I believe is their sharpest F-stop (5.6). The FA 50 1.4 tested a lot sharper on Photozone compared to the 18-135.

I remember reading somewhere that the K-5 can inhibit sharp lenses due to the anti-aliasing filter being quite strong.

So perhaps even buying more expensive lenses there'll be a "glass ceiling" (pardon the pun) to sharpness, because of the AA filter ......

Is this the case ? Or am I in error ?

Did you check the image size? 55mm is 10% bigger than 50mm. The FA 50mm would need about 10% better resolution to equal the sharpness of the 18-55mm at 55mm.

Spotmatic Wikipedia Article

I haven't used a Pentax Spotmatic much, but have used one with a watch sized silver oxide battery. At least for normal daytime lighting I got slides that look properly exposed.
The battery was smaller than the compartment of the Spotmatic, I used aluminum to take up the extra space. The biggest operation problem was that I was using the battery
in reverse polarity compared to the Hg battery. The needle than moved in opposite direction of the aperture, that slowed me up a little as I adjusted it.

Let's Talk About Teleconverter Bokeh...

Here is one from my film days.
lens 55mm Mamiya-Sekor f/1.4 2X screw mount teleconverter Vivitar I think.
f stop unrecorded. Distance from back seat to front seat of a canoe.
The corner & maybe edges have the teleconverter swirl even for things in focus, the ojects in the center are so out of focus
that bokeh may not apply. There are mid distance brush limbs to check for bokeh.
I had to reduce by file to less than 900 MB to upload it, my scanned file was 7.42MB, I hope there is still enough detail yo
show the teleconverter effects.

Restoration project - 110 negative scanning?
Posted By dean45

I have scanned some 16mm Minolta & 110 negative film with a Nikon Super Cool Scan 5000 scanner. I found that 35mm slide mounts cardboard or plastic would
not hold the film in place or flat enough to scan. I got some slide mount with glass. I put one together with guides in side to take the 16mm film.
The B&W Minolta negatives were good enough to scan at 2400 to 3200 dot per inch for the best ones, The Pocket Instamatic 10 negatives were good
for 1200-2000 dpi. (This was not a very good camera). The Pocket Instamatic 40 negatives (Kodak Gold 200) were good for 3200-4000dpi.
I don't believe the cheap $100-200 scanners or macro lens in front of your camera can match the resolution of the best 110 cameras.
I did however have a problem with Newton's rings on a few of my scans.

I called the Pentax service center, went thru the problems with this camera. He led me thru ther menu to find the reset button.
I reset the camera, I now have 12 Mp. I had to changes a few other presets- i.e. go back to high quality (3star) jpeg compression
and reset the time. I now takes 12Mp pictures even at very low quality max digital zoom pictures.
