Not sure if sarcastic comment... I maintain my position this should eventually be the default body cap supplied with the Q

This should come included with the Q10 successor, IMO. Neat accessory, but not exactly worth buying on its own. Its "The Pentax Q11 comes with this really neat body cap that also works as a lens: one of the coolest accessories ever" vs "for 50 dollars you can also buy a freaking body cap that you can take pictures with"

Smiling could simply mean they expected that question, nothing more. I won't scream disappointment until the next photokina.

They called the K-5 II their new flagship, also it makes no sense to have a K-5 IIs and then a higher ranking camera without that option. The "s" version only makes sense for the best camera they offer, meaning that the K-5 II will be that camera for some time. If there is a 9th anouncement it will not be a top ranking dslr, aps-c or ff.

Read the tread, Adam mentioned to them that the MSRP was $1199, so they changed it.

Clavius, your "I have full-frame lenses!" argument is valid, and from this forum I know a lot of others also do. However a lot is not all. And I believe it would be silly for Pentax to sell a full-frame camera without offering at least a 24-70mm zoom, "Hey buy this camera for your old lenses, if you dont have some wait a few years for us to sell some. Good day to you Sir!." Now it is true that you have the FA limiteds......

I am completely aware of that. Think about it, Pentax needs to develop a full-frame camera, but they also need a complete set of lenses to go with it. Sure they can modernize some FA lenses, but these things take time. I won't scream "disappointed" and "where is my full-frame" until next photokina. But all of you that expected full-frame now did not think this thought.

I would say the K-5 II is not the succesor of the K-5, its an updated version. They needed to release something at this photokina, but did not have the time to make a proper new flagship. Expect big announcements (24mp APC-S) at C+ next year, and full frame(and the lenses to go with it) at next photokina.

@Docrwm, no, the lens 1 was never available by itself, only in a kit with the Pentax Q. However there is no Pentax Q10 + lens 1 kit, only Q10 and lens 2. Also recently Pentax started offering the Q with only lens 2. If you bought that, you could not buy the lens 1 separately afterwards.

just checked on B&H, the 01 prime Q lens is not available for purchase separately, and not in kit with the new Q10. Opinions?

@Adam exactly my thought. Which is why I'm wondering how long it will be stuck at that price. Although that will mean stocks of the original k-5 will go down fast...

So I've been lurking around the forums as usual, and got a fleeting interest in the Pentax Q(lots of potential for macro/super telephoto), so I went out and read some reviews. One thing that rather shocked me is the people that where negative about it all chanted the same thing: "It wont do, the sensor is way too small!". So I asked myself "What do we need a bigger sensor for?". I mean with technology advancing like it likes to do, do we really need to be preoccupied about noise and IQ? The only thing I know of that technology cannot help us with is DOF (dept of field), or is is possible to still obtain a thin DOF with a smaller sensor? Could critical advance in sensor technology abolish bigger sensors? Am I missing some deficits of smaller sensors that cannot be remedied by technology?
thanks for you opinions, try not to heat up the conversation too much.

hey disco, don't forget that the bulb mode must have a three seconds delay or something....
ditto on the flash: noscense having WR on youbody only: everything must be weather proof.
also a make battery grip with two receptacle slots, in which a number of optional modules could fit: additional batteries(duh), a solid state hdd, a wifi module. note that the wifi module could be self powered(with an incorporated battery).
oh and I almost forgot: a dozen new lenses and a fullframe camera, all by the end of the year :):)

I once met a guy who owned the Nikon D3x. Its a very big and heavy camera, too heavy to carry around. So he won't, and he will miss those same precious moment. Its sad to thing that all this is because when as a future father he entered the shop and asked for the best camera they had, they gave him the most expensive one. A good point and shoot would have been ideal, IMHO: compact enough to carry around in a large pocket, small enough to not scare the kid, and smart enough to take care of the various settings while he only focuses on capturing those precious moments. Still if I had to blame someone for this, I would blame whoever sold him this camera for giving him what he wanted, not what he needed.
Disclaimer: I do not pretend to know the exact situation of this person, the above is simply my point of view after (miss)interpreting the information available in this thread, and matching it with what I imagine to be a typical scenario.

I believe most of them are dead bugs, :( but you could also try shooting in the early morning. Before the ambient temperature goes up the insect will be all but immobile; this is due to them being cold-blooded animal, they depend on an external source of either heat or cold to change their body temperature. When all the environment is cold they have no way to obtain heat, unlike us who produce our very own body heat:cool:. Most of them enter a lethargic state(sleeping to us) for the night. So that would be what I consider the easiest way to have them sit still, get them before they wake up!
Also remember they get quite distracted when feeding

yes sterretje, I realized this a couple minutes after posting: oooops.
The truth is I stumbled onto this thread in the "similar threads" sections at the bottom of the page, in my own thread. I assumed it was about the same age, or rather I never gave it a thought. Thanks anyways. Oh and by the way, feel free to have a look at my thread here: my thread

you, sir are a genius. Decision made!! Staying on board:D:D:D
to pinholecam, who made the original remark about the Q.....
my small brain simply assumed you where going off-topic when you started blabbering nonsense about the Q, and I did not even read your post (no macro lenses for the Q). of course now it makes sense: if you have an advantage with the aps-c crop factor, imagine with the Q
ps: I know you don't get a magnification advantage, just a very small sensor with tons of pixels. so its still is an advantage :)
