Hello Fellow Members
Yes, I am still alive n kicking busy shooting with my trusty Pentax, not to mention the constant praise and thumbs-up I give to all other Pentax users and thumbs-down to those, retail shops & users especially, where Canon;) and Nikon:hmm: seem to dominate and carry on about their product.. And there is nothing worse, when shopping for Pentax gear, to hear the words......' Sorry, but we do not have much in the way of Pentax, but we can order it in'. Grrrrrrrr:mad:
At least Pentax has one over Canon & Nikon, they do not have the vertical/horizontal picture view when rotating the camera, after a shot is taken. And their bodies are no where near as strongly built to last as Pentax which is a proven fact.
Crykeeeee! (aussie slang) I own a Pentax K-7, K-5iis, recently acquired K-3, my old film MZ50 (still going strong) and I am bloody proud as punch of all. That includes numerous Pentax and 3rd party lenses.
Hey, do not get me wrong...I respect and accept non Pentax users...but at the end of the day my loyalty rests with PENTAX (obviously its Ricoh now).
Anyway, lets get back on track. The reason for this essay in order to win this Pentax DA 50mm f1.8, is because, ...I do not have one.
I do have an older Sigma 50mm f1.4, but planning to sell it, as its quality does not meet my expectations. And to own a Pentax 50mm prime could just about complete my collection, which includes lots n lots of better quality portrait pics of my grand-kids......as well as my wife of course:)
So therefor I shall submit my photo taken in the Pilbarra region called Yandicoogina, where a company RioTinto (who I work for) is mining for Iron Ore and where its surrounds can sometimes be quite breathtaking. This time thou, I decided to enter a photo, which is a panoramic view looking down into a pit which was formerly excavated and is now a haven for some of the outback wildlife, ....but soon to be refilled and never seen again.
I do hope, win or lose, that this rare view gives some people an insight of an extraordinary view on 'Landscape'.
Please enjoy its nature! |

Took this photo a couple of years ago near the Port Bouvarde (WA) Surf Life Saving Club hoping to catch a good sunset, where I bracketed with a 20 sec. delay using a remote control.
On completion, at home I noticed on the last exposure, that I captured a surfer who walked in to the line of fire.
I therefor chose the best three pics, added the surfer and photo merged all of them via PSC6 and then did some final touches in Lightroom4. The end result gave me a nice sunset with its rays and a ghostly figure of a surfer. Henceforth the theme 'Sunset-Surfer Spirit'.
Considering this was my first experiment in photography using my K-7 DSLR and regardless of ‘Win or Lose’ I still think the composition is pretty good and that this photo speaks a thousand words.
I am proud of it! It’s mine!

thanks for all the info and yes image rotation does work on my K30 & K-7 but NOT on my K5iis. I read all the instructions & possible causes but to no avail.
I do believe That I am not the only one with that problem on the K5iis . There seem to be quite a few on the forum themselves. So, it has nothing to do with me being from Down-Under.

Could not help noticing this Model train built to detail at a recent Hobby-Train Exhibition. The likeness of this train to the real one, with research into the Ely-Thompson Lumber Train Story from the 1800s-1945 is quite extraordinary. Well done to the Hobbyist.

Hello All
Live in Mandurah WA, own a K-7, using a Tamron SP AF 70-200mm F2.8 Di LD (iF) Macro most times and recently purchased a SIGMA EF-530 DG Super Flash. Question is, as I am relevantly new at this game, will I experience any issues with me using 3 different components or am I all good with this set-up. I tried various forums n sites but unable to get any answers from anywhere or anyone.
I personally have not experienced any problems yet but than again i am still learning the use of my Camera & Flash. I do know that this Sigma Flash is compatible with Sigma lenses(due to the ' DG') but this Tamron lens has Di ?!
My friend, should you have any comments I would be most greatful to listen and thank you for your kind assistance,
Looking forward to your reply,
Regards
Wykland

Hi All
Just joined the forum today & still feeling my way through it. I am also an avid phofofreek who has just started the use of digital cameras and put the old 'Film' (MZ-50) to rest.
I am desperatly in search of the original battery grip D-BG4 (no replicas or made in China types!) and the AC-50 power cable. Unfortunately I have been out of luck on both of these items and PENTAX themselves do not ship internationally.
Is there anybody out there with some info ..........I be eternally greatful............and maybe even send you a bunch of flowers.....ha ha ha ha
