I've tried this kind of scanners and the DR is poor, not workable at all. Much better to build your own dark box and stick a good compact camera (RAW capable) to digitize the negatives. The downside is the processing...
Anyone know of software that could crop and invert colors automatically? So that only color temperature or minor adjustments would be needed afterwards?

Hi Brian, I also agre that you could expose for a bit longer. A good rule of thumb is that you can use time value as high as FocalLength/500 before you see star trails in your photograph.
Are you doing PP? if so, you could try the clarity slider to make the stars stand out.
Regarding composition, It would be nice to make out more of the foreground. The horizon and forground serve as anchor for the starry sky.[COLOR="Silver"]

This is a great shot!
I find it a bit distracting that the letter A is way too out of focus.

My latest de-acquisition was my Pentax MX-1. I bought a Lumix LX100 to replace it. Almost the same weight and dimentions.
I do miss the tilting display and extra reach of the MX-1 (112mm vs 75mm). I wish Pentax would make a succesor with a 1 inch sensor!

I visited the Saxonian Switzerland National Park (Sächsische Schweiz) a lot during my stay in germany and also the czech side (Bohemian Switzerland). Late autumn was my favorite season to go there.
Not from this fall, but these were my last photos with the great Pentax MX-1. |

There is a maximum area you can save at a time. But the file size depends on how information-dense (did I invent a new word?) The chosen area is. I've gotten areas as big as 2Gb

Haha, thank you for all your replies! It's easy to remember why I was using this forum so much, always helpful people around.
@Digitalis: Ha! You do photography for a living if I remember correctly? Honestly, the sony is getting less use since I swapped my MX-1 for an LX100...
@Aslyfox, yes, that is what I would like. I had the status once due to activity as mentioned below your message. I think I've contributed in other ways if not a direct transfer (have bought through the links and else)
@pjv, thank you! that's the info I needed
@BigMackCam, yep yep, I get you - wouldn't ask em just like that.. Might be difficult to get likes with my signature though XP!

I haven't been active for quite some time in the forums due to a lot of moving and travelling. Now, I would like to post my DA21 lens for sale in the market place. Is there a way to recover the Pentaxian status without paying membership?

I am no expert, but I understand macro lenses are designed to offer a near-flat field of focus ONLY at macro focusing distances. The field of focus curves fast after that. So, I don't think your comparison makes much sense.
I read a very interesting article at Lensrentals blog if you would like to dig on it.

Don't worry about no flash. In my experience, continuous lighting is in the end much better option to ensure even lighting across the frame. It is also cheap! All I had to be careful was to use lightbulbs evenly so that their color temperature would stay the same through their life. Just keep in mind not to overheat the artwork!
