It would seem that this is an early SE with replaced leatherette. Certainly all the SE characteristics, only a sticker instead of the engraved SE. It is a curious camera. Thanks so much for the interest.

The rewind lever works. It could be a regional model, but would have had to travel quite a long way. It was bought at the local swap meet here in Southern Cal.

Just took a few. The ISO range is 20 to 3200 and the split image has a microprism collar. |

Thanks for your responses. The SSN on this camera is consistent with a '77 - '78 purchase date. The top and bottom plates are metal and the sticker appears to be of the same period as the camera.

Hello - I am new to Pentax film cameras and have a K1000 that has a silver SE sticker where the engraves SE would be. It has a horizontal split focus with a prism ring. Is this a K1000 or K1000SE? Your help is appreciated.
