DNG all the time.
Went out to New Zealand for two weeks with two 16g extreme cards, one 16g micro extreme (ex phone) class 10s. Two 4g class 6, one 8g class 4 (ex tablet) 32g class 4 (from tablet as final backup).
Totalled just over 2600 images. Having the full ability to enhance even if it takes time is far worth it, only the "when will you be finished?" is a negative.
Extra cards are a cheap investment.
I'm in Rome next weekend, maybe our paths will cross?

Like the detail re the terms and translation.
Re seeing other Pentax cameras out and about, I rarely see other DSLR variants out, sure compacts are seen but not us "big bodies". I could say I've seen less than half a dozen at different venues/country locations over the last 8 years.
A minority yes but we're not canikon clones of which a majority probably never even take it out of simple or "green" mode.
I've see an IstDL, a K20d and a few at the time I could not see clearly to identify.

With a dry brush(brushes) blower and/or vacuum and a VERY final wipe with wet wipes (more damp than wet). that's how we clean off Afgan sand from aircraft instruments!

I've found some of these smaller plugs and sockets sometimes don't click fully home, even 3.5 headphone plugs feel home but not right. Plug bodies fouling on after market phone cases are common.
Check if there is a foul or close fit with the opening, otherwise it can be just down to the strength of the spring contact in the socket.
If a foul is found trim the plug body not your camera body
With conventional 1/4" plugs for headphones, musical instruments etc, because of the size it's easier to push home due to size, reduced sizes obviously don't have the "grip size" feel hence feeling tighter or harder to insert correctly.

Visiting the website there is a 15 day trial available to have a taster.
It however is designed for burst/batch processing. It does nothing for a single image:(.
Run 1 with 5 K10D images (minimum 3) not a true burst < second between. It took the third image and renamed it as the first (was it the image I was looking at at that save point)? most effect was to wash out a lot detail this maybe most likely to it not being a true burst set.
Run 2 with 4 K5II images in true burst of my ushenka, original shows shows material strands clearly with varying noise reduction it blurs the detail even at minimum correction.
I think others with more experience should give this ago and pass comment? It maybe that I am using images that are too close/detailed/clean (run2).
Run1 set certainly had noise but did not seem much different after.
Try the trial it may save a some pennies?

Quicker/better cards do make a marginal difference but the IstD will only go so fast, My stepdaughter has mine. The most missed bit of the IstD is the view status display being on the side as opposed to under the view.
Hybrid/enlope batteries are the biggest upgrade you can give it, they last far longer (2100mh) than equivalent or larger NiMl.

No kit but I plan to hit my plastic hard in February.
My youngest daughter acquired a photo of me from about 1975 and canvas printed it in A4 size. Originally 5x7 scanned @3.5m.
This is a smaller version as quality is not an issue and saves space, oh and the hardware Practica LTL3 with stock 50mm penticon.
Have a Great Christmas everyone.

Sounds like you have picked up a good bargain and hope it does all the right stuff for your uses. I love mine but I do admit I have my Sigma 150-500 on more often iif I have my full kit on my back, for a pocket pair it's either my Sigma 24-135/Pentax 16-45 and the Pentax 80-320.
Have fun

Hi, I have the 80-320, in general it is reported as "soft" above 250mm but I don't really feel it is major issue unless you are needing very high definition and then it is going to COST. In the UK they float around £130, I seem to remember the 100-300s tend to be a little cheaper.
Common fault with the 80-320 is the internal electronics fail, giving no "F" readout. Mine has been repaired cost 1/3 of the average price (but I did get it cheaper to cover the repair).
It's been on an IstD and the K10D minor hunting in poor contrast but normally straight there on both bodies.
I do have a Tamron 70-300, on the IstD it would hunt badly, very badly- unusable but behaves better on the K10D but will still get lost!. I should sell it! That I bought with a PX on the Sigma 100-300 although slower (6.3) I got some excellent shots in good light.
Hope that is of some help.

I'd love to upgrade from my K10 with either.
However
Live view do I need it, in some situations maybe?
Do I want video? actually no, I never got into it, we have 2 VCs not being used in cupboards.
My desire is
ISO settings that work correctly! none of those silly numbers that do sod all!
Good pixal count. I think most are happy with 16m for quality and storage and that seems to be the norm
Good AF sensors can it give an extra edge with some of the "fussier" lenses in low light and stop the hunting.
Actually I'd like an IstD with speed! Is that far fetched?
I loved it especially the view display on the side unlike the K10's underneath which I still ignore to read.

Unless we are very very lucky on the UK south coast, I think we will miss out again however fingers crossed.
So I will cheat a little in good Blue Peter style "this is what we made earlier".
Partial from last November and the horizon rising taken in February coincidently both taken on the 7th.
K10 and Sigma 150-500 both hand held due to tripod being found broken after being loaned out (well it was a cheap one).

Sorry it's depressive!
As sledger said.
(Your facebook link about the new forum dark skin brought me, but I just noticed this thread is about something else??) Ditto!
seeing the thumbnails on a dark background doesn't work with me either a pale "neutral" grey would be better allowing the colours of the picture to draw the attention.

Thanks Schmidlapper and Arn
It certainly is a good source, I thought either I was going scatty or my K10 was throwing a wobbly. I was getting no spotbeam from my flash guns!
A earlier thread highlighted that a firmware update locked out spotbeam in AF-C, logical really I suppose but it would be nice if some manuals that have been rewritten held that little bit of info. Mine do now!

It's a normal fault, the internal circuit fails.
Mine was the second that I had seen, Having enquired prior to the purchase of the repair cost, I got the price down to a good deal and went for it.
Put it directly into the repair house and collected 3 days later for about £30-35, 5 years ago (if I remember correctly) still behaving perfectly. Asahiphoto of Brentford West London carried out the work and quoted that this is common for this lens.
Hope this helps

Hi, I'm Alan and use the same handle/user name on the UK based Pentax User forum. Found the site after the recent firmware updates and been following the firmware threads.
I felt I needed to join this international forum that you are and continue the growing number of followers, hoping as time goes on I can give as much back within the forum as I glean.
Thank you for being here.
