Thanks guys. I'm embarrassed to say it, but I followed an old link instructing me in the disassembly method. I probably shouldn't have tried it at 2am... I ended up breaking the speaker wire, and the CPU, main flex circuit, and e-dial assembly were wrecked in the process. Thank goodness for extended warranties. The fixed it with no questions asked. I have definitely learned from my mistakes though. It cost me 6 weeks without my camera while it was out for repairs. Deffinately wasn't my finest hour :-/

Just to clarify... Is the contact cleaner method done by simply spraying the e-dial externally, or by taking the casing apat and actually spraying the e-dial internally? I just got my camera out of repair for the same issue, but have little doubt it will come up again.

I did go to A&M ( class of 05'). As far as I know it is only at the HEB Plus stores that have an electronics department. Are you currently attending A&M? It's a great school. Gig em aggies!

I live in Austin, TX and just received a sales add for HEB which is a large grocery store chain. They are now selling the K-r in the store for under $500!!! I guess I'm glad that Pentax is starting to expand their market, but a grocery store is a little odd. As far as I know they are the only retailer in Texas that sells Pentax.

I purchased a new K-r this past summer and recently learned that it has been discontinued. This is my first DSLR and have been quite happy with it. Am I missing something? Is there something about this model that is defective?
