I saw this review on Facebook from Shutterbug Magazine and wondered if there was a thread on it? Shutterbug seems to be disappointed in the resolution of the KP.

My K-30 had this problem intermittently at first, but then it became permanent. It still works with M lenses though, so it still has some use for me. :)

I need this camera! My K-30 has developed exposure issues, it severely under exposes pictures. This camera would be most welcome. :-)

I own a copy of this lens, but it has a small chip in the glass. So, I have looked to replace it various times and have on occasion seen it on eBay for $115-150 starting bid or Buy It Now, so I don't think it is extremely rare. I have found my copy to be very sharp, when focused properly. I tried it for soccer, but it was hard to focus on action with much success.

Question about zoom on SMC-F 70~210mm f/4-5.6 Lens

I bought one years ago that was quite stiff to zoom. I thought maybe mine was a bad copy. It also had some minor issues with the coatings, but still it was very sharp.

troika,

I picked up a Tokina AT-X 50-250 mm on eBay for about $20 (shipped!) and was also shocked at it's sharpness. This is a very under-rated lens.

Pentax O-GPS with K-01

Has anyone out there used the O-GPS and the astrotracer feature with the K-01? In the review it starts out saying it will work with the K-01, but in the astrotracer section it only mentions the Kr and the K-5. So, does the GPS feature work with the K-01, but not the astrotracer?

I use mine with a K-01 and focus peaking. It is about as sharp as my Tamron 90mm macro. Just wish it was f/2.8. It is worth the money and seems to be readily available on eBay.

ND filters

For a well lit waterfall a ND filter is almost necessary. I also use them to take long exposures to blur cloud or water movement in landscapes.

I have purchased a variety of cheap ND filters, including a variable one, and then tried a B + W filter. The old axiom of 'you get what you pay for' applied here. The B + W gave much better colors than the cheaper ones. I have bought all of my B + W filters on eBay and have purchased some for pretty reasonable prices (under $50).

Manual mode no longer available on K-01

I have owned a K-01 for about two years and have really enjoyed using it. The other day I was going to use my 50 mm M 1.4 lens, but could not get the camera to go to manual mode. Instead of manual it gives me TaV when I turn the mode wheel. All the other modes work fine on the camera. Do I have some setting wrong? Will reloading the latest firmware do anything? In addition to the M50 1.4 I own an M85, M200, M100 Macro and would really like to use these with my K-01. Anyone else encounter this problem with their K-01?

I own the K-01 and for the money it is a great camera. The caveat is that it is not weather proof and I find that in comparison to my KX or K200, the sensor seems to get dirtier faster than the other two bodies. I have also found it difficult to use the camera in sunlit conditions, due to the glare on the LCD screen and this is using the camera for landscape photography. The K-01 is very difficult to use for any kind of action photography. So for what you are considering, I would favor the K30, unless money is tight.

*ist DL and batteries?

I own an *istDL and first used Kodak 2400 mAh NiMH batteries and loved them. The first set lasted over a year, but on the second set, after about 6 months, they almost immediately showed 1/2 depletion after only a few shots. I am now using Energizer NiMH 2300 mAh and seem to be getting good results.

Cleaning Fungus from a lens

I recently purchased a lens on eBay with some fungus on the inner back lens. I asked my backyard neighbor who is a professional camera repairman if he could clean off the fungus. He indicated that he was reluctant to clean the lens, but would do so with no guarantee. He said the inner coating on the lens is much different than on the outer part of the lens and sometimes he doesn't have good luck and as a result damages the coating. Has anyone out there heard of anything similar or had fungus cleaned off of a lens? Thanks.

Used Manual Lenses on *ist DL

I own an *ist DL and recently purchased three lenses on eBay to test on my camera. Lens 1 is a Tamron 35-135mm f/3.5-4.2 with Adaptall 2 ($56), lens 2 is a Tamron SP 70-210mm f/3.5 adaptall 2 (not included for $56) amd a Kiron 28-105mm f/3.2-4.5 as part of a Pentax ME (and a Pentax 35mm f/3.5 for ~$64 for the lens and camera). I bought lens 1 for the adaptall 2 mount to use on lens 2 and in the last buy I was after the 35mm lens and got the Kiron with it. Which will be keepers?

Wikipedia as a source is not usually considered reliable in most High Schools and Colleges. But, 5% seems low, unless it loosely correlates with being left-handed, which is a low percentage in the general population.

Pentax-A 1:1.7 lens question

I purchased a Pentax ME body with Pentax-A 1;1.7 lens attached. I bought this for the lens and not the body. My question about the lens is in regards to the f-stop ring. When rotating the ring it does not have click stops and the button for the auto feature does not really press in and hold the ring in that position. The glass is clean and the f-stops work (in the auto or manual modes) with my *ist DL, but is the lens worth keeping? Is the described characteristics a sign of hidden problems? Thanks for any help or opinions on this post.
