The first image shows Northern Chief taking on water at New Romney station. Next are two taken inside the engine shed at New Romney, one at 1/8th sec, the other at 1/80th. The faster shutter speed gave a sharper picture (although the shake reduction did a good job at 1/8th), but increasing the exposure in LR gave almost as much detail as at 1/8th, for a little extra noise.

A trip out on this 15" gauge railway last September. All 13 miles of it and back. Pix are:
1) Northern Chief prepares to leave Hythe.
2) Winston Churchill at Dungeness.
3) Northern Chief arrives at Dungeness.

SWMBO took this - she's probably a better photographer than I am anyway, although I had to cajole her a bit into moving to a K-S1 from a K-100D Super. Our three cats, all from the same litter. Sad to say, Tabby on the left has since skipped town. She may have gone off on the razzle and a fox got her, possibly.

Not strictly K-S1, but the "fun" part applies.
I took this picture in September 1971, after a five-hour hike to get to the top of Le Buet (10,200ft, at 46°01′30″N 06°51′09″E). Taken with my Pentax Spotmatic, looking south about 2pm.
Typical of my luck though - when I started shooting I discovered there were only two shots left on the camera

Well, it was the official Pentax repairers for the UK, who were: Johnsons Photopia Ltd, Hempstalls Lane, Newcastle under Lyme, ST5 0SW Staffordshire, UK.
Tel: +44 1782 753350, but they seem to have gone into administration. So it's unclear who it would be at the minute.
The K-S1 has some minor downsides, but there is no obvious replacement model as far as I'm concerned. I'm not interested in a folding rear screen or more than one control wheel. So I got it repaired and am content with that.

Sounds like not repairing it is best for you. It cost £109 for me to get my K-S1 done earlier in the year, but it's been fine since then and the repair service was quick.

This one is good and very good value and fully merits the good things people say about it.

That would be a nice trick if my K-S1 could do it but unfortunately that feature is not available to me. Sounds extremely useful, though.

My K-S1 appears to underexpose by about a stop. Quite useful really, as you say.

From earlier in the year: not what one might normally expect to see from an upstairs bedroom window.

I also disagree.:) I was already a Pentax owner (since 1970), and I leant heavily towards the K-S1 because it doesn't have a tilt screen and other things I don't want, like a second wheel. While keeping the IQ, it also doesn't have 200 grams or so of extra weight for the things I don't want either. And because it's a K-mount Pentax, I can use the lenses I already had.

I'm somewhat behind with Lightroom but did get round to adjusting these: young hawthorn in flower with field of barley behind. Taken in May this year.

I was here on the Wirral at the weekend consorting with the niece as she married husband 3.0. Here's a couple of shots from the gardens. The kit lens does quite well but does suffer from flare. It also seemed to me that, when viewed at 100%, noise was apparent even at ISO 400. Earlier in the day it had been gloomy so for the ceremony I was at 400; dropped down to 100 as the weather improved.

A bit early for our oak tree and beech hedge. Wheat not doing much in the field beyond, either.

Well quite. Quote: In Clothears' defense, he was spoofing MikeP's request for a filter to remove "Pentax Is Doomed" from threads. He took it a little further, tho'. Okay, a lot further. Ha, glad to see someone is awake and has a Sensa Yuma. OK - retract the bit about cancelling accounts. There is, however, the K-S1 Forum, and pretty soon, mark my words, it will have more posts than the K50/K30 Forum has topics, and I will consider that to be a result.
I can also say that in the time I've had this camera, I've not seen the LEDs and no one has commented on them. Not her indoors and not the three cats either.

No they shouldn't, the K-S1 suits me just fine. I don't want tilty screen, touchscreen, wi-fi, two control wheels, or, indeed, even live-view or video. I want good IQ in a lightweight package. Which is what I've got.
Still, I'm glad to see that Ricoh is pressing on. More power to their dildo, err, elbow. ---------- Post added 07-02-15 at 23:07 ----------
BTW Adam, ... any chance you can auto-delete posts by people who sneer at the K-S1. Such posts were mildly amusing the first time but now they're just bloody annoying and only used by those who have nothing of interest to say. If you can manage to auto-cancel their accounts too that would be just extra special.
