I went with #2, but wouldn't argue with anyone who voted differently. I would be proud to claim any of these shots as my own. Traditional to abstract, all were interesting to heartwarming. Have a great 2015.

No, I said I wish there was a flash hook up, though you can use the onboard flash and a slave. But as a rule for flash I use my K3, K5, Q, or dare I say Canon. (Pardon my language.) Not a pro, just a guy with a compulsive disorder. Back in the 70's and 80's a lot of folks coveted the black versions of many slrs. Being wishy washy I really don't care, like them all. My Q is white.

I have the black, no real reason. I knew that if I chose black I would wish I took the silver and vice versa. Still, sharp looking and does a nice job, just wish there was a flash hookup and a viewfinder, but that aside it is a nice solid capable camera, super macro is crazy good, you can touch the objet with the rim of the lens and focus.

Looked at the Q for some time. Found one new for less than the lens that was on it a few days ago, so it's mine. Couldn't wait for Santa.
Maybe he will get me the fisheye lens. The Q sets next to my K5, looking pretty. Merry Christmas to all. Dan

I find the three fold blinking a nuisance at night. I turn off the lcd so it doesn't blind me. I Just bought the K5, but have had several other Pentax cameras since the 60's. In all the glowing reports I read about the K5 I never saw mention of the annoying blinking. Manual mode doesn't stop it either. So even though it may be designed to do this, I agree with others that mentioned a more subtle indicator would be greatly appreciated. But I don't do a lot of night shots, and for all the rest of my uses this camera is great. But I have found that even when blinking if I can focus the camera shoots, and exposures are as expected.

Just signed up, and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a recently retired rapidly aging granfather of three and one half. Father of three girls. I have had numerous cameras in my life, mostly Pentax. I still have quite a few going back to my Spotmatic. I entered the digital age a few years back and worked up to a K20D. Yesterday I ordered a K5., mostly due to the raves I have read about it, and because I don't have one. Found the strength to resist the K7, but the K5 kept calling me, and when the price dropped to 999, I pushed the SUMBIT button. Now I guess it's to ebay to sell my K20D to help pay for my new toy.
I am a picture taker, and not to be confused with a photographer. Once in a while I get lucky.
I'm hoping to pick up some pointers here, and see what others experiences were/are. These new cameras can do more than I have discovered, and I am trying to figure out my editing programs somewhere along the way.
Anyway, look forward to seeing what is what. Take care, Dan
