Hello!

Have anyone ever seen this before?

The only thing I have to go on is the batteries were possibly low. Used it fine without any problems since the camera came out.

Thank you in advance!

K100 Flash Never Charges

Hi everyone,

I'm a 4yr Pentax user now and my buddies are Pentax users too. They asked me to figure out why their K100 battery was draining - I think I know the issue; the flash blinks as if charging even when it's not popped up. Anyone know why? When I pop it up, it still never stops blinking and wont fire as if it's not charging or the bulb is burnt out.

Doesn't anyone know if a bulb burns out, does the camera malfunction in this way, that it always thinks the flash is popped up and constantly tries to charge it?

Any hints may be helpful.

On the way back from a sports photo shoot, my friend (who was driving) drove by this scene... 3 tires ripped from the vehicle which was facing the wrong way in a 1 car accident, but everyone seemed OK. Sat in traffic a quite a long time.

Pentax K01 and AF on old sigma lens

You're making me want to try out my manual 1.4 SMC! :) The only problem is I learn my lenses so i don't have to look at the camera for specific shots... e.g. I can hold the camera and take it from my waste while getting the person to look up at my face (creates a "candid" looking shot I think)... Nonetheless, I'll try it out with the manual :D

Yeah I have tried that and I've got a manual 1.4 SMC that's much smaller than my Sigma AF 1.4 to do that with. I only bought the Sigma for the AF but it's wasted on the K-01. I wonder if the AF version of the 1.4 SMC 50mm actually focuses (not that I'd drop another couple hundred into one again - my first one fell apart). You're lucky to have the 1.2! I was eying that earlier today as I've done in the past... :D

I just want to add my K-01 doesn't work at all with the AF on my Sigma F1.4 50mm. It thinks its in focus and makes the confirmation beep ONLY when horribly out of focus. On my Tamron 18-200mm it takes incredibly long even in day light to focus. Very dissapointed. Didn't realize newer 3rd party lenses might have such trouble... probably would not have purchased if I knew, though I've got some great shots with the 40mm F2.8.

D-AC50 ~ OK to leave Battery in?

Thanks Ex Finn.! It's working very nicely now w/ the battery left in. Also, it shows a little Plug instead of battery on the screen when it's plugged in, so it definitely detects the difference!

Sticky SD Card Slot

Mine is like this too. Some SD cards seem to free up better than others. It doesn't really bother me so I haven't noticed which ones free up better. I know my Eye-Fi Pro SD Card gets stuck really bad though!

I let my mentor borrow my camera, he called me up shortly after he started using it and asked me if the SD card was hard to remove.

D-AC50 ~ OK to leave Battery in?

After researching, I found that the D-AC50 should work with Pentax K-5. I've read numerous times that it wont charge a battery, but I've not read anywhere if it's OK to leave the battery in when the AC is plugged in. Can I leave the battery in while AC is also plugged in? Some devices can be damaged this way. The instructions that came with the D-AC50 don't cover this topic. Thank you!

I've been coming here regularly to read reviews for quite some time. I shoot for fun but also in part of my profession. My main job is IT at a photolab dealing with color-management, printing and graphic work (digital restoration & template design). I do a few other things for work as well, but the skills mentioned are what brings me here! :D

K-5 Tethering?

Hi! I'm considering a K-5 purchase to go along side with my K-X, but I'm concerned its tethering is like the K-X tethering... Unable to really tether so I wont be able to shoot with Lightroom. Can the K-5 tether beyond being an external storage device?

I know I can tether via 3rd party hardware wireless, but wired tethering is 100x more reliable and wireless should be a last stop use only IMO.

Thanks in advance!
