perfect focus, very well done Wolfgang, for it was your only, fast and surprise take.
haha, forum legend and vintage lens expert.. I'd rather say enthusiastic dilettante.
it has been a while since I posted here. Gear being small and light, as are my Pentax *istDs and K-x, always has been a priority for me. That had made me, once they came to the market, switch to mirrorless cams with small and light, also old manual rangefinder and / or halframe lenses.
a few old takes with my S-M-C Takumar f1.4/50 on Pentax *istDs from Nepal 2009, might have shown one or the other, recently re-edited:

still keep my Taks and still like my Taks very much, but haven't used them much on my mirrorless cams.

there are two documented versions of the Super Takumar f1.4/50mm, the early 8 element version and the later 7 element version.
I happen to have a version which has most of the signs of the 8 element version, the red focus mark is to the right of the numeral 4, A/M switch says "A" and "M", it says "2" on the aperture ring instead of just having a dot, BUT it lacks the protruding rear element. I suppose that optically it is a 7 element version but in the body of the earlier 8 element, a lens produced during the transition period?
see for yourself:

cheers,
Andreas

amazing the clarity of your photos yiptwo, and good looking oof rings!
haha, it was after 9 years of studying English that I went, for the first time, to an English speaking country. People would say: "you are talking in English, but..what are you talking about?" In an acquired language it is most difficult to be short and precise!
In return If English was learned through schooling, not primarily through talking with native speakers, which usually is the case, long sentences may be more easily understood than being too short.

wow, beautiful photo dfujevec, great sky, depth and composition!
thank's guys, I thought you would like the photos of the lens repair ;)
I was not so much concerned of him not being clean enough, but I must say that I could not help thinking about what would happen if his little working tray would get knocked over, after all it simply sits on top of a cardbox and he is sitting on a somewhat busy street corner!
look at those - eek, how one of the modern AF zoom look from the inside
( because they had not been taken with a Takumar only posted as links, lens used was Tamron Adaptall 01A, a manual 35-80mm zoom on Pentax K-x ) http://www.flickr.com/photos/kuuan/5510627319/in/set-72157625800113249/ repair of a modern AF zoom lens | Flickr - Photo Sharing! repair of a modern AF zoom lens | Flickr - Photo Sharing! parts / chips of a modern AF lens | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
I also should show a photo taken recently in Bali with a Takumar, again Auto Takumar f1.8/85

hope that you will be happy with the adapter Togu!
( yes, one may say I travel a lot. Most of the time I don't feel like traveling though but going to a number of places every year for specific reasons and simply living my life. To Bali I have come every year since abt. 20 years, time ago for 4 or 5 months, now it's usually for just about 5 or 6 weeks. Similar it has been with Japan and Nepal, during these last years it was Vietnam I spent more time than anywhere else. Therefore I not consider myself living in Bali, or any other place really, or better I should feel I live in all of them ;) Sometimes I go to some new place and 'travel', this year made two short trips of just 2 weeks each to China and Taiwan. )
A good number of my lenses, specially Takumars and Pentax K, I bought in Japan for less than I would expect having to pay in Europe. Of some specially early Takumars which typically are harder to find outside Japan I could not resist and bought more than one copy and resold some if someone showed interest ( a list of available lenses at the profile at my flickr ). These last 2 years however the unfavorable exchange rate makes good deals very hard to come by. A few years ago I made a bargain with two lenses in India where I guess one still could have luck, a few I bought in Vietnam and the Philippines but not cheap, prices there usually are even higher than in Europe.
One real good thing is that I found people in various countries that can service old lenses for little money, e.g. here my Vivitar f2/28 gets it's focus ring smoother again right on the street :) in Ho Chi Minh City / Saigon, so does my Auto Takumar f2.8/105 seen in the background:
haha, and smoking while doing it

Auto Takumar f1.8/85mm ( on NEX5N )
cosplay in Taipei
at a cremation ceremony in Ubud, Bali
even though some are slightly misfocused I hope you still like them.
When I won the auction for the Auto Takumar f1.8/85mm I was very happy! I love the colors of my other Auto Takumars and their small size and my Super Takumar f1.9/85 which has the same optical formula.
A few test shots however showed me that the wide open sharpness of my copy lacks behind not only the one of the S-M-C 1.8/85 but also to that of my Super Takumar f1.9/85.
Nevertheless it was the Auto Tak I took with me on my latest travels and only recently in Taiwan and now in Bali finally it got some use, here the full set of photos taken with this lens: Auto Takumar 85mm f1.8 - a set on Flickr
best greetings,
kuuan
