Thanks for sharing this deal. Although I have several great Lowepro bags, with the K-3 I have been moving to as minimal a kit as possible. This should be perfect and I can pick up tomorrow.

Thanks for posting. I've really been interested in any commercial video work shot with the K-5. This looks great! As a novice climber myself, I can see this series being very popular, especially with the great production value you've brought to the project. Did you shoot 1080 and post at 24P or some other combo? I shoot video with a 5DII and a 60D, although I really like the look of the K-5 footage. I wish the K-5 had manual audio level, since for many projects I find I can use the camera audio out of my Tascam without having to sync the second system sound.
I've edited with FCP since about day one a long time ago, but I'm still dragging my feet on switching to FCP X. I've tried the demo, but it seems as if I don't ever have time to spend the time necessary to get comfortable before the next project comes up. Mostly, it seems that the compositing isn't as robust in X, especially since I use a lot of layer photoshop files. I suppose that's what Motion is for. Any thoughts you have on FCP X? Thanks and I'll watch for more installments.

I've shot full-frame Canon since the original 1Ds and FF images just look different to me at least for the studio and portrait commercial work I do. Sounds dumb I know. Most likely the depth of field difference. Kind of like medium format compared to 35mm. The larger VF is really nice as well, although my K-5 has by far the most FF-like finder I've used. ISO noise is generally less as well, although not sure if that's as true as it used to be with better noise reduction.

Price reduced from $1050! Selling a Pentax K-5 with DA 18-55 AL WR lens that I purchased new about two weeks ago from B&H. Manufactured on 1-11-2012. Extra 2 years warranty available for $20 (I have it on order from B&H.)

Body is in perfect condition other than a small mark on the base noted with the arrow in the photograph. I'm selling because I own Canon lenses and bodies. I sold my backup Canon and now my 5DII is acting a little weird in rebellion, so I'd probably better stick with one brand.
Asking $995 reduced from $1050 with UPS ground shipping at actual cost with insurance ($25 or less in the U.S.). USPS might be a little less. Up to buyer to choose. Please let me know if you have any questions. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

Just thinking about this over the weekend. How much control does Ricohtax exert over the retailers? Could a retailer offer a $500 in-store gift card for example with the purchase of X lens or would this violate the unilateral contract? I've seen B&H offer gift cards in the past with other products, although I'm not sure it is something they still do.

Thank you to all forum members for sharing your insights, as I try to figure out the new pricing structure. I just purchased a k-5 last week from B& H who has consistently earned my business not on price alone, but on outstanding service. I earn 100% of my income from commercial photography for which I've used Canon full frame since the 1Ds, with L lenses, etc. I added the k-5 as my personal travel camera due to size, build and above all what I thought was an incredible value in the lens selection, especially with the DA limiteds.
I shot today in Zion N.P. with the k-5 and the kit lens and it was a joy to use. I came back to order at least the 40mm from B&H and find myself on this forum trying to make sense of the almost overnight crazy price increases. At the new prices, I really have a difficult time buying more into a system that seems to have such arbitrary pricing policies. I simply cannot believe that non-full frame, screw drive prime lenses made in Vietnam can be worth almost $600 a pop, let alone SDM lenses that now approach the price of Canon L glass. Not bashing the Pentax system at all, but just echoing what I think many users looking to buy into Pentax would think this week as opposed to last. Last week, I was tickled at the value of the k-5 and the apparent value of the entire Pentax lens lineup. Canon for me is a known quantity with a fantastic professional support network (CPN). Pentax I viewed as a brand with a decent historic reputation that offered compactness and value. I fear value is no longer part of the proposition. Thanks again for the awesome info.
