K-30 Full Spectrum Asking Price
300.00 USD Item Location
Denver, CO (United States) Item Description
I picked up this K-30 a few years ago on this site. It had the solenoid issue, which I sent off to be fixed. I also sent to Kolari for full spectrum conversion (I keep coming back to IR photography every so often).
Anyway, I simply haven’t had time to do much of any photography over the last year since I work in CO and live in GA and travel back and forth nearly every week. And I’m preparing to move, so trying to lighten my load. Will post more stuff soon.
This has the D-LI109 battery as well as the AA cartridge.
Oh, and the firmware is 1.10 (K-50) per the details on this site also.

While the economics likely favor finding another low count standard 645D and have it converted (my fav is Kolari) AND the license agreement for the factory IR version makes it contraband…I’d love to rock the red Pentax badge 645D. I’ve had a K-01 converted to full spectrum (never should’ve sold that) in addition to a Nikon 7100 (did not like) as well as a second K-01 (not equal to the 1st). Medium format IR should be awe inspiring.

I picked up a Leica C3 point and shoot 35mm film camera with (supposedly) just one issue: the metal roller/tab “thing” near the take up spool is no longer attached to the body interior. My initial attempts to place it where it belongs have been futile, but even if I could get it into the right place I suspect it would not stay.
Anyway, if someone has one and could take some close up shots of what it is supposed to look like, I would be in your debt. |

Update, the certificate error doesn't appear on a PC as noted prior. But I put two shirts in the cart and when I proceed to purchase, I DO in fact get the "Uh oh...We hit an error on our server"...
Will try again at a later date.

No, I get “The certificate for this server is invalid”. Refreshing doesn’t solve it. Not sure why my PC will go there with no problems.

Weird. It works fine on my PC but won’t work on my iPhone (not Safari, not DuckDuckGo, nor Chrome or Opera). Will order via PC I guess…

Sure, but don't take it from me. The best source is from places that do the conversions like Kolari Vision, Life Pixel, etc. What is a full spectrum conversion? - Kolari Vision
But basically, by removing or replacing the infrared-filtering "hot mirror" on top of the sensor, the camera can now "see" the full spectrum of visible wavelengths, allowing you to select what range you wish to filter to achieve a specific effect. You can always add an external hot mirror filter to take normal pictures - essentially you get an unfiltered camera and the ability to apply filters as you see fit (UV, IR, etc).
Example images I've taken in IR:
[ ---------- Post added 06-25-21 at 05:45 PM ---------- I will also add that in general, mirrorless cameras are strongly preferred for full spectrum / IR conversion because of the focusing done directly on the sensor. So the K-01 is ideal in Pentax systems. Further, Pentax has the ability to set white balance in camera when switched to full spectrum and with IR filter in place on the lens - Nikon for instance does not (ask me how I know...). Plus all the legacy K lenses that perform well in IR (note red mark on focus rings). Anyway, if Pentax would've made a full spectrum mirrorless, I would be first in line to convert it to full spectrum.

Full Spectrum K-01 Asking Price
250.00 USD Item Location
Savannah, GA (United States) Item Description
1 Jul 21 update: Yet another correction to honor the market...
In my roller coaster chase for full spectrum images, I procured a K-01 and then sent it off to Isaac Szabo to convert to full spectrum. But I’m now focusing on my newly procured (used) K-1 and lenses ($) and am trying to consolidate - especially after seeing the K-1 can be used for IR as-is (within limits). So, the K-01 is going. Yellow with 3,551 actuations. Battery charger, battery, box and manual are included (what you see if what you get). Original disc and related items with manual are included but note the shoe cap isn’t. The selector wheel is fine with no issues. Can send some pics I took with it or additional pics as necessary. I'm sure I am risking inadvertently disclosing my age (or relative girth), but I have a general dislike for t-shirts with only a front print. Would it be possible to obtain (a) t-shirt(s) with the great ideas that have donned the front-only t-shirts thus far but on the back? With a small Pentax logo on the left chest front that is... I'd be in for 5-6 easy, perhaps more - likely not enough to make it an option but damn. How about a way to pay a royalty for a given design and I roll my own via another vendor. As with anything copyrighted, I would only do what is proper.
Thanks,
Troy

This is interesting to me. Although I've yet to be fitted for my dunce cap, intuitively what you wrote makes sense. However, I have not been able to find similar information concerning the large diameter/short flange distance of the latest MILC offerings (Nikon for instance, but they are not alone). I was interested in the Z series cameras.
Does this help explain the 645Z appeal/performance with 'old' tech? Because a MF mirrorless (Fuji, H-blad) could be in a similar boat as the new FF ILCs. Of course, I just assumed (due to lack of other sources indicating this) that it is a technicality that doesn't affect the image as much as one might construe.

Kolari Pocket Full Spectrum P+S plus filters, etc Asking Price
50.00 USD Item Location
SAVANNAH (United States) Item Description
1 Jul 21 update: Final market correction...
This is a Canon ELPH180 camera converted by Kolari Vision and originally offered/sold as their "Kolari Pocket" camera. It's a full spectrum conversion Point & Shoot and comes with 3 filters (K590, K720 and Hot mirror - all 37mm), pouch to hold the filters, battery and charger (as shown in picture). I was itching to fill a void in IR photography as I was searching for a K-30 and/or K-01 to convert and this was it. Originally a little or $200 on sale from Kolari, I'm offering it for $100 shipped to the lower 48.
I was also trying to evaluate the Canon system and ability to set an effective white balance in camera (something that Nikon seems to struggle with). No issue with Canon, but I'm just not a Canon guy. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

Thanks, I think I understand now. The fog is lifting….
I need to reconcile my format choice me thinks….I appreciate that Pentax isn’t throwing in the towel on APS-C.

For those familiar with Venice, FL, this is the fishing pier at Sharky's. I had my 645 lens adapter and my K-3 and tried my usual trick of a panorama stitched in PS.

Apologies once again, I’m not on the same page. It is just my ignorance.
Essentially, I’d like to understand what the 55/f4 67 lens adapted to my K-200D, K-01 and K-30 would be equivalent to if it were an APS-C lens. From the brief test I did, there is a small difference in what the images contain (basic 18-55 APS-C at 55 and prime 55 MF both at f8). I had hoped to find my Sigma 55-200 and try against both 67 lenses but I haven’t located it yet (in storage).
The image circle probe is just for my curiosity for both image quality and perhaps playing around in the future. For instance, are their trade-offs that would favor an image circle to be just big enough to barely cover the sensor or film and risk vignetting or other issues at the corners (assume cost and size are the driving factors). Hence at least one reason why I thought using the 67 lenses would be a good idea. Perhaps not.
I tried my hand at LF photography and quickly realized it isn’t for me at this time. That’s where the image circle gets discussed a lot of course (4x5, 5x7, etc). The lenses are small for the image size compared to ‘standard’ cameras. I realize it would be blasphemy to consider a 67 lens applicability on a 6x9 film frame, but the thought has cross my mind.

Thanks, I downloaded it ($9.99 US). Haven’t explored all of it and had to manually add the supposedly accurate frame size for the Pentax 6x7 (their values differed from what’s listed here). The interface could be made a bit more refinement for clarity (define Camera 1 and Camera 2 for the purpose of determining the FOV and equivalent mm for instance).
Lots more stuff with it so I look forward to getting more familiar with it. A bit humorous me asking for an old school book and of course there’s an app for that. :D ---------- Post added 04-26-21 at 01:20 PM ----------
Cool, I’ll have to exercise my brain I guess and run the calcs. Thanks ---------- Post added 04-26-21 at 01:27 PM ---------- shyrsio, my issue (other than originating remedial threads of course) is I currently have either digital APS-C bodies or 35mm film bodies. I’m certainly not talented enough to warrant the expense of a medium format system, but have had some lucky shots on my 645 film system (should’ve never sold it) as well as my 6x9 folder. So regardless of my ignorance, I will find a way eventually to get there. In the mean time, I will likely not procure APS-C only lenses. Why? Because the lenses are where the money is.
So I kept a couple 67 lenses and bought adapters to use on my cameras (both Pentax and Nikon). Hence my original questions.
Thanks

I saw another post apologizing for being the dumbest on this site (it wasn’t, but this one might be so I’d say “hold my beer”....).
Just curious if there are some decent material for a novice on lenses to have on the shelf as a reference that someone could suggest. I’ve come across some reasonable on-line resources on lenses in general (basic) but I’d be interested in something that covers things like calculating the FOV for medium format lenses (both 645 and 67) on full frame and APS-C cameras, or even others. Hell, it could be LF, MF and FF on M4/3rds, 1/2.3” and APS-C in theory. Or 67 on 645. Or 645 on FF.
Also how to calculate the approximate equivalent focal length that would be to the sensor or film size. For instance, I’ve taken to using a pair of 67 lenses (55 and 200) on my APS-C Pentaxes as well as a film body. Is there any way to determine the image circle of a given lens without testing it (this seems to be too secret info for most non-LF lenses). Can you calculate minimum focus distance? How the variables change with bellows and extension tubes.
This may all exist in disparate online sources but a physical source would be awesome. Ever seen the books on ammunition ballistics? Anyway, I’ll take my beer back now...
Thanks
