KS2 lens mount & focusing issue

Thanks photogem, before I even got this I was wary of abf but had hoped for the best, I got a quote to repair my K50 with abf which was about as expensive as the price of this KS2 so I figured I'd take a chance on it.

With all the additional issues and how it presented itself versus my experience with the K50 and it's aperture block failing twice I didn't think that was the issue but it does make sense.

The K50 has sentimental value for me so I'll get it fixed at some point but the KS2 is going back to seller next week, I'm going to get a used K3 or K3ii instead I think.

That would make sense for sure photogem. Interestingly the autofocus issue seems to have resolved itself however I still get poorly exposed images after adjusting aperture.

If I turn the camera off at f8, then turn it back on and take a photo it seems perfect but if I change to f2 say I'll get an underexposure whereas f22 say would give me a very overexposed image.

Currently working with returning it to the seller in any case.

Thanks Herb, it was only after looking at my other cameras I began to wonder about the marks visible there, I figured they may be cosmetic but I never considered what actually caused them in the first place.

I've tried a DAL 18-55, DA 50mm 1.8, FA 50 1.4, Tamron 17-50 and finally an DA 18-135 with it, all have the same result. I see some marks on the mount but to my untrained eye nothing that would raise an alarm.

Hi all,

I received a used KS2 today however it seems to have an issue with how the lenses are mounting. There is no obvious issue when attaching one but there is definitely something going wrong somewhere.

I noticed immediately that focus confirmation was off and the target was out of focus, I tried a few different lenses with similar results.

I also noted that the image in the viewfinder shifts on power on and closes the shutter it's not the normal dust removal or anything you would expect. The lenses don't seem to adjust aperture correctly with lens set to F8 for example the images is overexposed.

I have mounted lenses "correctly" twice over multiple changes and low and behold no focus issues or anything previously mentioned on those successful times.

All lenses tested are working on my K10D and my K50 (which has a failing aperture block, ironically I bought this to replace that...)

I can see some small marks on the housing that look as if it was dropped at some point also, otherwise it looks perfect and has a low shutter count.

I will be returning it but I'm curious if this issue has occurred to anyone here? It's hard to find anything other than abf issues. I'm disappointed as it seems like a nice camera!

The KP would be an excellent choice, even a K-50 or K-30 would be a nice upgrade.

A bit wider would work I think, I'd like the ring to be in focus as dekc has said, but a nice idea for sure.
