They are both completely dead, no activity at all. ---------- Post added 09-07-23 at 08:01 AM ----------
I am using original Pentax batteries. I know the batteries are good because they work in my full frame K1-ii

Hello,
I have a K-3 and a K-5 both with the same issue. They both seemed to lock up and won't turn on. I tried fresh fully charged batteries in both with no luck. I tried the hard reset where I took out the battery and sd card then held down the power button for 2 seconds, and that didn't help either. I tried precision camera repair service, and was told these cameras are no longer repairable......Any suggestions?

Hello: I have a Pentax K-5 and K-3, and am wondering if the SDXC memory card will work on these cameras? Also what is the difference between the two? I was going to purchase the San Disk 64 SDXC but wasn't sure if it would be compatible in my cameras.
Thank-you

I'd be real interested in the part # you ordered and where from so I can order it also. Pentax told me I would have to send the camera in for repairs, and I don't really want to do that for that small repair.
Thank-you

Hey all:
My lens release button seems to have fallen off my K-5. Does anybody know if this is a screw on button or whatever, and how do I obtain getting a new one on it. I have insurance on the camera but they told me it sounded like physical damage and that it wasn't covered under the policy, and that I would have to get it fixed myself.
Thank-you.

Hey all:
I am looking for a lens in the 55 - 200mm range. I have the ranges from 12-55 and 150-500 covered with a 90mm macro. I often find myself in that in between range where the 150-500 zoom is too big and the 12-24 or the 18 - 55 is too small.

Hello Fellow Pentax users:
I have the Pentax AF-540 FGZ P-TTL, but unfortunately I don't have the users manual. What I would like to know is how do I turn the power setting down on this unit. I really don't need full power when useing this flash outdoors for a fill light. Thank-you.

Well, jatrax: I thought what the heck I don't really have anything to lose, so I gave it a Whack. And to my surprise,IT WORKED. Must have been a stuck mirror or something, anyway Thanks for the advice, and next time something is out of whack, I'll just "Give it a whack"
Thank-you again.

Okay I was out snapping pictures today when all of a sudden my K-5 just stopped taking pictures. The battery was at full charge, i took off the lens and tried a different lens, and made sure everything was seated properly. Turned the camera back on, and the LCD screen came on, I was able to view my last pictures, access the menu, the battery showed a full charge, so I point to a subject to capture the camera will focus properly, but when I click the shutter button it makes a sound like the mirror flips up but it won't take the picture, and the battery registers as depleted. I then turn off the camera, and turn it basck on and the battery is fully charged again, and I can again view oictures and access the menu, but as soon as I try to take another picture, the same thing happens again. I tried a different fully charged battery, but the same thing happens. Does anybody know what is going on with my camera? Help.

Recently my K-5 shutters will just randomly keep clicking away. When it does this I have to shut the camera off then on again and maybe, just maybe I'll be able to take pictures again. It will click away 30 -40 times but not actually take a picturewhen it acts up. I was wondering if any other fellow photo buffs have had this experience, and know what the problem can be?

I was at a recent photoshop seminar and the guest speaker was talking about setting your camera's profile to whatever it is your shooting, being landscapes, portraits, sports or whatever the case may be. He says by doing this when you shoot in RAW, your pictures won't be as dull looking as they normally do. Therefore creating less post processing. Of course he could only refer to the other 2 big camera makers. I looked thru my manual, and for the life of me I can't find where I can do that on my K-5. Anybody out there know what I'm talking about and can help me out? I'm new to the forum, but have been a Pentax owner from the super program film days. Thank-you.
