K-S1 First Impressions

Just got my "Midnight Black" K-S1 and 20-40 Limited lens today… Really nice combo, the size/ergonomics can take just a while to get used to if you're a former K-series user but it seems to fit my hands well fairly quickly (although I could see how it might be awkward if you were switching back and forth between the two…). It truly is a unique offering in the bland sea of APS-C competitors, esp, "Canikon" and seems to be a much better made product overall and well thought out - kudos to Ricoh for pushing it forward, but I can also see how the pricing and lack of market presence will likely doom the K-S1 to relative obscurity - all you have to do is walk into a mass retailer like Best Buy, etc. and see the Canikon 2-lens kits at $499 piled high and you wonder how Pentax could ever anticipate growing K-S1 sales beyond being a niche product… Surely once all the old K-5 and K-5o stock is gone the KS-1 will be "it" for the entry user and it's spec'd high enough for the enthusiast but it also still seems a strange mix of "who's it for" at a price that is too high… And anyone's guess if any real marketing will show up?

KS-1 Color Recommendation?

Yeah, I first thought the blue one would be it but then the dusk gold one caught my interest once I saw a picture of the champagne gold Q-S1 (which is unfortunately likely a very different "gold" color!...). I like the idea of the silver one but fear the the silver Limited lenses may be a different color silver that may not match so well... You make a good point about "seeing them in person" which I expect would provoke an entirely different reaction... Wish I could visit that Pentax store in Paris that seems to have all of them on display!...

Anyone have a KS-1 favorite body color recommendation that they think would look best with both black (20-40mm) and silver (15mm) lenses?

Anyone actually bought a K-S1 yet?

…Just wondering if any forum members have bought a K-S1 yet, particularly if you've used a K-5 and/or K-3 prior ?(which I've owned, but didn't want to carry around as often as I'd like to). With the Sony A7II coming out at least with somewhat improved ergonomics I'm starting to feel the tug of the small, FF mirrorless world but the trouble-spot would of course be the poor lens options, especially missing of the great Pentax Limited lenses, esp. the 15 and 20-40 that I'm very fond of… I have yet to see any lenses from the slowly expanding Sony FE mount world, perhaps there's some hope that Zeiss will add some more Loxia W-A options (like a 25mm?) next year but even then those are manual focus only (but I rather like the classic aperture ring on the lenses so that's a plus… most of my photo subjects are statics, landscapes, etc. so AF is more of convenience than "necessity". So I'm just curious if anyone here has tried the K-S1 and what you think about it? I know it's aimed at the more "first time DLSR user" but the excellent VF and selectable AAF option are decidedly "upscale" and overall it's a very feature-loaded option to what else is in the price range from others… I think I could rather like it with the Limited lenses…
