I hear you!
Once, in my youth, I fell down a small tree, clutching a Yashica TLR (borrowed...) into the bushes underneath the tree.
Camera - undamaged.
Braincase - jury's still out on that one, some fifty years later.

I'm also finding the Green button exposure complaints strange... If I haven't used a certain body with manual lenses for a while, and I use a bunch of different bodies, I usually screw up the first one. Which doesn't matter, as I shoot DNG+jpg. Or PEF on the older bodies like K100D. But then I remember how the particular body works. The exposure of any Pentax with manual lenses isn't off more than any other camera. Maybe it's got something to do with me almost always using the spot meter.

I know what you mean! Believe me!
But a very simple way to get to the "end of it" is to propose that they actually buy something from you, for real money!
Just as a for instance, selling your K-3. Obviously at a premium price, because of the training that is included. Nothing is free in this world. Then you can get the K-3III.
And because you recommended something that you can stand for, at the beginning of it all, it's no big sacrifice to trade the object in. At a good price from where you stand, of course!
If they go for it, great! If not, you're not hearing more from them. Good riddance, in that case...
Also I am totally with you on Pentax! But instead of Fuji gear, I've got Olympus. Good stuff, but not on the same level as Pentax!
Best wishes and a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
Cheers/Erik

Why would you be ostracized for recommending something as per the requirement put to you?
It can't be your responsibility to foresee any and all future needs and wants of the person asking for your help.

I'm not really trying to make a living.
Just trying to see their hand.
Which mostly is of the hot-air kind.
Most people don't have anything but hot air inside.
Unfortunately.

I'm completely in agreement with you!
I don't know how many times I've been told:
"Oh! You should be selling your beautiful pictures!"
or something like that, both from family, friends, and passing acquaintances.
But as soon as I ask them if they want to actually buy a nice framed and signed picture, approximately 99.95% of them very quickly lost their interest.
They still very much like for me to give them a desktop wallpaper, though. For free, naturally.
And, of course, the family already got the framed ones, for free...

Thank you both! If I remember correctly, this is before I cleaned the iris blades from a lot of East German oil, so it was more or less stuck at f:1.8.
I had to smack it to get a smaller aperture.
The combination of East German glass, Nordic summer night light, and CCD, makes for beautiful colours. I think.

A real dealbreaker for me would be no notification diode.
That's why I'm gonna replace my Samsung note 10 plus ($1099) when I find something with a better camera inside.
Oh, wait, were we talking about REAL cameras here? My bad.

It was with great trepidation I inserted the oldest memory card I could find, a Kingston Compact Flash from July 2008, into the card reader.
It contains pictures from the Minolta Dimage 5, my first "real" digital camera.
And it still works.
I'll now have to go through the rest of my cards, and hope I'm as lucky with them.
And start refreshing every second year, waiting for laser digital imaging crystal engraving technology.
Thanks/Erik

Released in 1963/1964.
I'm looking for a nice copy myself.

Have the camera, want the box... :)
Re filters: might be that 37.5 mm is standard and easy to find.
Check out the new thread for infinity focus pictures from the 24 mm on my C-mount adapter! First pictures with f:2.8/24 mm & homebrew Pentax auto 110 to M4/3 adapter - PentaxForums.com

Unfortunately I didn't get the 70 mm on this auction.
But, I got another three lens kit, without cardboard box, including a dead auto 110, flash, and winder for 50 bucks.
Thats why I've made the adapter. An extra set of lenses to play with...
Thanks/Erik

Not much action in this thread, but I'm not ready to kiss it goodbye just yet, so, here goes....
Weather is really shitty, the storm Chiara is approaching, but I took a couple of test pictures from my balcony.
Pictures straight out of camera, no post processing. EV is -1/3 on both shots.

Olympus E-PL1 with Pentax-110 f:2.8/24 mm
with aperture disc @ 1/200 ~f:4.5 ISO 400 Pentax 110 lens thread | Page 5 | Mu-43
Here's crops from lower left corner of both shots: Pentax 110 lens thread | Page 5 | Mu-43 Pentax 110 lens thread | Page 5 | Mu-43
When thinking about it, the aperture on the Pentax lens should be around f:4 according to the respective exposure times. Both pictures were taken within a minute.
My eye measurement/guesstimate says closer to f:5.6 on my disc, though.
Anyhow, there's no doubt. The Yashica ML glass is better. Also bigger. My thoughts are that the Pentax-110 lens is well worth the room in your pocket, as it don't take any.
Complete weight of the Pentax-110 f:2.8/24 mm including adapter, rear lens cap and an extra C to CS adapter as lens hood is only 45 grammes.
The Yashica ML f:2.8/28 mm weighs in at a comparatively hefty 345 grammes in similar configuration, with a UV filter added to it.

Pocket friendly lens f:2.8/24 mm (with hood)
The C-mount adapter hood also makes focusing easier, as the knurls stick out in front. Pentax 110 lens thread | Page 5 | Mu-43

Also, this Pentax 110 to C-mount conversion should work equally well with everything you can put a C-mount adapter on. Pentax Q, NEX, Samsung NX, and others...

I've reposted this from another thread where prices of Pentax auto 110 were discussed. I think it is better placed here... Save the planet - recycle your vintage lens!
As you well know, the powers that be have mandated we all must cut down on everything, except for taxation, to save the planet.
Hail Greta, full of Grace!
So, I've come up with this (nearly) tax free recipe to counteract climate change:
✅Take one M4/3 camera body of your choice.
✅Take one Pentax auto 110 lens (In my case: f:2.8/24 mm).
✅Take one C to M4/3 adapter.
✅Take two C to CS adapters.
File down one C to CS adapter about 1-1.5 mm to achieve infinity focus. If you take off too much, it's easy to shim back up.
While testing for infinity focus, simply hold, or melt glue, the lens to the filed down adapter. Melt glue is easy to remove, should you want, or need, to.
This combo is less expensive than the cheap Chinese adapters from Pentax 110 to M4/3.
All in all, less than US$ 5:-!
This isn't counting camera and lens. :D
Also, it's not leaking light, which can be a problem with these adapters.
Last, but not least, the adapter ordered from China I won't get for a month, or so, and I wanted to try the lens NOW!
Couldn't let a sleeping lens lie...
☢️ Shot with Olympus E-PL1 through Pentax-110 f:2.8/24 mm wide open.
☣️ RAW development in camera.
☢️ Pictures of E-PL1/adapter/auto 110 lens shot with Samsung Note 10 plus.
☣️ Post processing of all pictures in Snapseed app on Samsung Note 10 plus. https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/attachments/8-pentax-film-slr-discussion...0153-01-01.jpg https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/attachments/8-pentax-film-slr-discussion...2061299-01.jpg
Thanks/Erik
[EDIT] I did file down enough to need a thin shim, made out of a postcard. So now the adapter looks like: C to M4/3 adapter - C to CS adapter - filed down C to CS adapter - thin shim - P110 f:2.8/24 mm. I did away with melt glue, only good for proof of concept, and now the shim is glued with office glue between the modified adapter and the lens.
So what I have now is a C mount Pentax 110 lens. The C mount thread is same as the filter thread of the lens, so an extra C to CS adapter can be used as a non vignetting lens hood, or as an extension tube for close up pics. Also made an aperture disc out of a piece of cardboard (same as used for the shim), which I punched a hole in with (you guessed it) a hole puncher. This gives me an aperture that looks like f:4.5 to f:5.6.
Final thought: This recipe should also work nicely with the Q C mount adapter. [\EDIT]
