Purchasing K-5 Warranty Without Purchasing Camera from B&H

I had purchased my camera back in early April from Amazon because B&H had gone out of stock. Now, I am looking to purchase the extended warranty, which has been out of stock from then until now. But, I read in another thread that we can place the order with B&H to document our purchase and receive the paperwork later. I just tried to purchase over the phone with a B&H rep, who flat out denied me and stated I needed to have purchase the camera from B&H in order to purchase the extended warranty.

May I ask why that is so? My understanding is that the extended warranty is a product (just a card and some paperwork) through Pentax, not B&H. If it had been in stock, I would have easily been able to order it online. I would have asked for a more detailed explanation from the phone rep. However, he was acting very rude (in my opinion) by saying how "I win some, I lose some" and "that's what I get for purchasing from Amazon." I decided to hold back and not give him any more of my time.

Please help me with some clarifications. Thanks!
