The Raynox Macro club

What a cool club! I've only played with the 150 for half a year but I really like this thing. After taking this shot, I finally decided I needed a rail to mount the camera too since moving in and out was dicey at best and I can see a 250 in my future. I'm sure I'm definitely going to need some kind of rail for that one depending on the lens of course.

This was shot with a 55-300 with the Raynox 150 and the temperature was just beginning to melt the snow and frost.

Stone and Dr. Who. yeah I understood that for long exposures you would need an equatorial mount.

I made my own 10 inch Dobson about 20 years ago after gaining interest in them from watching a program on PBS. I even ground my own mirror. I sold it when I had to relocate for my job and just got busy with life. This next go round I'm not interested in building but looking at some of those Orion Dobs with Goto the goto features are really started to get my attention.

I've seen some pretty impressive pictures taken with DSLR's. and those scopes but of course tons of stacking. I think I might be interested but even the moon and planets seem pretty doable with a Dob.

Dr. Who I have no idea. It was something I read on a forum about astrophtography. Another had asked about using a Dobson with GoTo features and one of the answers was that the back plane issues needed to be solved. It's why I was asking here because I'm not a member there.

After more reading though, it seems I've found my answer.

I'm curious.. I'm seeing that indeed some of you are using Newtonian Scopes but I keep reading that you can't overcome the back plain issue with them or at least not with a Dob..

What exactly is a back plan issue?

I realize that Dobs aren't the best mount for long exposures in fact wouldn't work at all but with stacking is that even an issue ?

Ack.. nevermind. I found my answer on another forum. Planets and such I should be fine. Deep space is another story but can be overcome with stacking.

Not much different than a right wing nut job running into a crowded mall with an assault rifle.

While anyone supporting workers rights would be hopeful that all this will be peaceful, emotions still run deep.

Same side of coin. While the right to own assault rifle groups (NRA) would hope that nut cases didn't get loose with them... it's still going to happen.

Turn off Fox News and think for yourself.

PolitiFact Names Romney Ad "Lie of the Year"

Go figure..........

PolitiFact, the Tampa Bay Times' Pulitzer Prize-winning fact-checking project, has named its Lie of the Year for 2012. The winner/loser? The Mitt Romney campaign's eleventh-hour attack ad in Ohio claiming that President Obama "sold Chrysler to Italians who are going to build Jeeps in China."
Romney Wins "Lie of the Year": GOP Jeep ad named biggest lie by PolitiFact.

Top lies...according to PolitiFact....

Interesting...... from grown men who should know better.

While I was never a fan of G.W. to begin with or his policies, I'll refute stuff when I see it about 9-11 rumors. Fact is, that idea to get Saudi royals out of the country wasn't Bush's it was Richard Clarks. They didn't fly out on the no fly ban.. they flew out after flights were allowed.

Clarke wasn't much of a fan of the Bush admin during his tenure there as terrorist cazar and even less after 9-11. Read his book. He has nothing to hide about his role there. Rice, Cheney and Bush? Probably since none of them had to testify under oath and had to have the questions in advance for Rice in her appearance before the 9-11 investigation court.

You are honestly blaming the President for no plan? He's had them but the far right crowd and the I hate Obama crowd in congress has run a damn good path of obstruction. While our infrastructure crumbles away on bridges, roads, the electrical gird and on and on.. the Republican plan is simple. Cut any spending that helps the middle class and go for more supply side economics that's been a dismal failure since Reagan first implement those huge tax cuts for the wealthy.

Turn off Fox news and Rush Limbaugh and do some serious research.

Second part. Murder... humm.. ok so I respect your right to think that way. Now you say you don't want the government to make that decision for you. Hell they aren't. It's YOUR choice. (assuming you're a woman which I don't think you are.)
My personal thought here is you just can't see your own hypocrisy on this issue. Right now it IS a choice and not one that anyone especially the gov is making for anyone yet you want them to make that for everyone. Sheesh.

Yes I'm perfectly capable of telling a restaurant that I can salt my own food. Silly argument.

Personally I really like this lens. It's not my goto by any stretch of the imagination. but fun to use without a doubt. All these were shot with my K-5.

'

This shot I caught at work. The antelope kept running to the fence and turning around and running back away and then back to the fence again. There was a train going by and I've never seen one do that. They are just normally to timid. When the train passed he finally ducked under the fence and headed off. When I got to the top of the hill, I had my answer to his actions. He had his harem on the other side of the tracks.

Anyway it's cropped quite a bit which explains the loss of detail but I was shocked on just how well he turned out given the magnitude of crop.

I dunno about her not being able to do the job.. I'm sure she could have finished her term, had not a crap load of money heading to her bank account not got in the way. The fact that she couldn't wait a couple of years and just finished her job says a lot about her.

Thanks Adam. I have no idea how I set it then but I'll figure it out. Yes, I shoot everything in raw and I don't see that happen too often. I have a bed of white petunias and in trying to get some shots of bugs flying around them that's popped up on a few.

I'm sure this is something I've set in the menus or something but I find it kind of frustrating and I can't find the answer in the owners manual or searching here. It could be I'm just looking in the wrong place too.

This just started about 4 days ago. Whenever I take a picture with what seems to be a lot of contrast, the really brighter parts of the picture flash in red.

I have no idea if that's a camera setting or a problem.

This is with a K-5 body and any lens I own.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

So I had read you can use a lens mounted backwards with an adapter for macros. I jumped at this because I have some canon lens that are all manual and really aren't worth much from what I can tell.

This shot was with iso 80 3200 shutter speed and the aperture wide open as I've yet to figure out how t manually stop it down more. It's a Canon 50mm 1.8

The subject is an Aster called the Wonder of Staffa.

The adapter cost me around 6 bucks.. I bought it off of eBay.

Thanks for the help! Don't know which suggestion fixed it but it's back to normal now. I would have thought that by having the box checked, that it would have only taken one shot.

RAW FX button problems.

I was letting a friend look at my camera a few days ago and he pressed the RAW FX button. Now it shoots both RAW DNG + Jpg. . I really don't want it to do that . I just want it shooing in RAW DNG

I've looked at the Custom Button settings and for RAW FX button the box is checked for cancel after one shot. I can't seem to figure out how to get it to only do one RAW DNG.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advanced!
