There are few things on a DSLR can not make smaller are the mirror box, prism and the battery, where the electronic parts are getting smaller and smaller without sacrificing any features.

Type C vs Lightning

I must be living on Mars never have "lints" problem, but my friend did also on the audio port, it was simply due to how the phone was put into the pocket, if the ports are face upward where come the lints ? my problem was 90% bad cable 10% bad phone port, so that I bought the new phone with wireless charge.

Lints was the main cause of connection problem most people mentioned, but I rarely have that problem, I put my phone upside down into the pocket that will hardly catch lints. The problem with type C is the tiny and packed contacts, I won't trust that to carry over 100W of power.

Type C vs Lightning

When I was charging my phone via type C the other day, I could not get quick charge like I used to, so I reversed the plug and it got quick charge, which happened occasionally due to the cable's bad contact. But after a short while I smell burns and saw smoke from the phone port, I remove the cable immediately, luckily I can still charge normally with another cable, and wireless charge still works. That reminded me of the Lightning plug on the iPhone. I do not use an iPhone, but by the look of it the plug is less delicate, the contacts are larger, the design is like the type C "inside out". I know type C is more advanced and preferred by many, but in practical use I found it only slightly better than the micro USB, and I would like to see something like the lightning with better specification and more reliable than the type C, especially physically.

IMO designing a FF is not a waste of money, as most of us here were started from shooting films, that's what FF is all about, we are already used to it. Then APSC came, and we have to adjust our mind for the crop factor. Electronics components are getting smaller and smaller except the sensor and the prism, so that someday it will be possible to produce a small enough digital FF, like the MX is the smallest SLR Pentax is proud of, so that going for a small FF DSLR is the ultimate goal.

Well I agreed but not completely. I've not used the Df, but I used the FM2 before, and I enjoyed using it. Most but not all photographers are into video so much, like myself I rarely shoot video, so FHD is good enough for me. Shooting video is like but not the same as shooting stills, it calls for a different technique that not every photographer is interested in, so that the Df lacking video capacity is not a flaw at all. Actually I like that idea, I don't want to spend the extra money to get some features I don't need, in order to get the features that I want for stills. Of course there's hardly any new camera without video capacity these days, the video capacity has become standard added to the cost no matter you like it or not.

While we are still waiting for the new film camera to release, how about to re-introduce an upgraded and improved version of the uncommon MZ-S, with the tech already in place very little extra need to do, so wouldn't be a financial burden to them.

File transfer problem on Android

Similarly here, I used various Linux distro over the years, and now I stick with Mint the Debian edition, I specially picked this slightly harder to use distro to try to learn something. The last MS windows I purchased and used was Win2000, and my office is still using Win7. End of support ? no problem, we don’t do crazy stuff other than documents, email and some OBS streaming the most. My background is more on the hardware side, I set up and maintain computer equipment and some networking, I don’t need in-depth knowledge on s/w, everything can be done via the web, so Linux is no stranger to that. I am interested to know the inside works of the equipment, so I dismantled my Minolta SLR, and learned that the AE works just as I thought, that’s encouraging ! I did some electronics DIY, I’m not really a maker type person but I do soldering more than keyboard and mouse clicking. I do not need to follow computer tech closely and I am losing interest in it. I have been focusing more on photography lately.

I did some ‘great things’ during my young ‘golden age’, such as to compile a Linux Kernel for my computer, and install SCO Unix via floppies, configured a printer to work on it, and installed a 3D wireframe tank shooting game. I also did some 3D modelling and animation with 3D Studio to use in company events. In the early days, due to my work I handled many computer equipment before PCs in common use, SYS36/AS400/3270 ... etc., I was not a s/w engineer or system admin, I was just a h/w guy to install and fix things. As I get older my memory is not as good, and I have no interest and strength to follow ‘new tech’, and I don’t see all new techs are very special. As the computer gets faster, memory and storage gets cheaper, many hard to do things in the past can be done today easily and fast. So that programmers today are getting lazy, most things can be done via mouse click, I doubt anyone is still interested in learning Assembly language. There are a handful of very talented and hardworking people, who have created full featured operating systems to fit onto a 1.4M floppy disk, such as Puppy Linux, but on the other hand simply a windows device driver costs a few hundred meg ! When I purchase a gadget, I want it to work as it should, rather than to find a way to fix the problem when it doesn’t. Please excuse me for being the pain in the neck, I just had enough problems lately with my stupid Android devices ha !

Yes, thanks for that. You know what, it's interesting that I did not get response on a Linux forum as quick than on a general talk section on this non computer related forum, here we have experts from all walks of life that I can get support from !

I used Linux beside bcoz I am sick and tired of windows, also bcoz Android is based on Linux, I supposed they will work together better, but unfortunately that didn't happen in reality.

Like what ? one simple thing that, when I setup a new phone there's an option to transfer data from old phone with a type C cable, but that never worked once. The cable was brand new click locked in place, and there's no "lints problem" on the phone port, and the cable can do quick charge so I believe it's good. There's also problem with Nearby Share, I can send photos between the 2 but not every time, half of the time they can not connect, the above problem also on CAT phone too, then just recently Nearby Share upgraded to Quick Share the problem seems to have fixed.

Yes I've got some random crazy problem with my Android devices lately, a phone and a tablet both are Nokia repaired and replaced. On the phone it recognized the tablet via the hub but the tablet didn't see it ! I need to use a card reader to copy my photos at last. I don't do windows all the works are done on Linux, I believe that's one of the causes.

I was trying to copy some 20G of files from a phone uSD to another one’s internal storage via USB, normally for PC it would take 15min., but on Android phone to phone it took over an hour, mainly bcoz the phone does not recognize the USB storage, or the connection breaks during the transfer. I tried cable to cable, power hub with card reader and card reader plug into the tablet and the final option worked. It was pain in the neck to do that, I don’t know why Android MTP and OTG things still so messed up after all these years, and the stock file manager doesn’t even recognize the plug in reader I need to try different file managers, even if it recognize the card the transfer could break in the middle, I believe it was due to the huge file size the small device can not handle properly, I don’t know the iPhone side story.

Yeah right on, I do not use iPhone but I tried, it was the user experience not making me to get one. I set up the iPhone for my colleagues and fixed some minor problems on their MacBook, so I am not completely ignorant of those devices, it's just that I don't enjoy using them. Say for example, I don’t like the super thin shallow travel of the Macbook keyboard like most other models, it’s terrible and so tired to type on, only Lenovo has the best practical keyboard you can work with hours after hours without complaint, but some Apple users praising everything about the Macbook, simply bcoz it’s a Macbook ! and Lenovo did make crappy devices too.

The reason I picked Nokia was the absence of bloat ware, unlike the Samsung that came with tons of apps no body wanted and you can not easily remove them the Nokia is very clean, also, OEM unlock option built in the system for those interested to install 3rd party ROM. Beside the Nokia I used few different made of Android devices over the years namely HTC, Motorola, Samsung and the LG, and I had the worse experience with Samsung, not because of the features and the build quality but the UI design, it gave me headache, where LG was much better. I know this is weird like how I "hated" Fujifilm digital camera, it was the user experience not the IQ, and Pentax is still the best for me although it is behind on features. Samsung and Fujifilm are not cheap, but money can not always buy happiness.

Yes, and regarding the antenna, I don't know why the piece was designed to stick on the metal chassis that will surely grounded the signal, I will use a thick double size tape to raise it to improve reception, I am more from the hardware side with knowledge of radio signal.

I want to replace my tablet with it, where I do not use my tablet as phone although it can make calls, so that I can control when I will need it to be turned on, and I can use dynamic power management to conserve battery, and turn off backlight...etc. I don't know it was the design of the CM4 or the uConsole, the SD card is disabled on the CM4 emmc models that really sucks, otherwise the one with emmc and 8G is the prefect choice.

I've done some 300 frames of interval, to put together to produce a short video. It's good to know the battery grip does auto switch battery, but I can't tell what frame I was on during the shoot, I only know when it's done or I missed ? on the otherhand there are 2 modes of interval, I don't know what's the use of the other one that overlapping the shots.
