Wondered if you were using micro SD cards. My GRiiix won't turn on with micro SD cards, only full size SD cards

Yes, therefore this must be a GRIII issue

It is odd, but I tried it with various combinations of a sandisk micro SD, a PNY micro SD and a no-name micro SD in combintation with a 3 different Sandisk adaptors and a Samsung adapters. All cards verified as working in my desktop's card reader.

None of my micro SD cards work with an adapter in my GRiiix. Not the Sandisk or Samsung SD card adapter. Just an FYI. The manual does not state you can use a micro SD card, so I guess I should have known better. The camera will not even turn on when a micro SD card is in the camera.

Max SD Card size GRiiix

Not finding this anywhere, here or in the manual.

Nowhere am I finding a max size SD card spec. Therefore, I'm assuming there is none. I'd like to go 512gb and see no prohibition for using that size?

I enjoyed that review since I own a GRiiix. The guy does have an eye for composition. 55 days until we go to Italy. I think I've got it figured out enough to get good use out of it.

Focus problem K5iis

Thanks. Enable AF was enabled but disabling it, shutting camera power off then on did not enable shutter half press focusing. Turning camera switch to MF and using the lens focus ring does give the green hex focus to come on. Still unable to get back shutter half press auto focus. Must be a mechanical issue with the camera

Haven't had the camera out for a while. Today I can only get it to auto focus with the AF button on the back. Tried 3 different lenses. Same issue. In manual focus mode I do not get a green hexagon confirmation on focus. I do get a green hexagon focus confirmation with the AF button. But I do not get auto focusing by pressing the shutter down halfway. Did I screw up a setting or is it the camera?

When I gently move my GRiiix back n forth

With my GRiiix in my palm, lens to the ceiling, if I gently move my hand back and forth to the left and right, I can feel the whole inside mechanism shift left and right. Is that right? None of my DSLRs do that. My wife's nikon P&S doesn't do that.

Anyone else miss the K200D?

I sure do. The K200 was my first prosumer DSLR and it got stolen. I loved that camera, everything about it. I replaced it with a K5IIs which has been a terrific replacement. I now bought from the forum marketplace a K3II and am looking forward to getting to learn that camera.

Just as an FYI, my K5iis has astrotracer. Not that I've been extremely tempted by the K3ii. I keep telling myself, "it's ok to have 2 good quality DSLRs. Really, it is."

Really liking it so far. I've got to get more adept at tweaking the settings for low light. The easiest functionally on the camera is probably exposure compensation, maybe white bal adjust. I was in P mode. Next outing I'll try Aperture or Shutter mode.

Adorama has the GRIIIx back in stock so I ordered one plus the charger/2 battery accessory option. Will give me plenty of time to get comfortable with it prior to our trip to Italy in late October.

Anxious for some user reviews. Going to Italy Oct. 2022 and the iiix seems like the perfect travel camera given the trip will be overwhelmingly street shooting vs landscapes. Really don't want to lug my K5iis along.

We're back. I took the 21mm HD Ltd, 35mm Ltd Macro and the 77mm Ltd. Of the 3, the 21mm got the most use, mostly because (I think) of the beautiful landscapes and scenery. I'm going to work on the pics this weekend and will post the best few.

Well, we're leaving Friday and I picked up an HD 21mm Ltd here on the classifieds, so think now of taking that, plus the 35mm Ltd Macro and the 77mm Ltd, leaving the 18-135 at home. Hope I won't miss the zoom of the 18-135mm. Would I find much use for the 35mm Ltd Macro? The 21mm HD Ltd seems to be the better walkaround lens.

I would love to get to the big island, but those new large lava flows started after we booked our trip. And everyone I talked to said to not island hop on the vacation otherwise all you'll do is spend your time travelling. That's why we picked Oahu and Kauai for our ten days, 5 at each island.

I should mention that my zoom is actually the 18-135, not the 18-250. I'm still inclined to take the primes vs just the 18-135mm, based on the discussions here.

I don't have the 21 but could pick one up, or maybe even a 15mm. No kids. Just a long overdue longest-vacation-in-years trip with the wife. And spending some time with the best man at my wedding whom I've not seen in some 32 years.
