Shot with this same body using a Sigma 17-50, f2.8 with circ Marumi Exus polarizer. This is the road and fields where they filmed scenes for the movie "Gladiator".

If you use the Novoflex adapter with the blue ring for aperture control, it matters not that there is no manual aperture control. I've used it on my Leica MP 240 with Pentax lens.

Shot this in May 2014 with Pentax K5IIs and DA*60-250. I searched Google Maps for some time to locate this vantage point so I could shoot it. Also walked and shot the road used in the movie Gladiator nearby.

Scene for many shots used in the movie Gladiator. Another place I had to research and scour Google Maps to locate but glad I did. I shot this with K5IIs and Sigma 17-50 with Marumi Exus circ polarizer.

A nice gesture by Pentax Forums....good form.
I didn't know Bruce either but may his loved ones find comfort in the good times and warm memories of his life here. Now he can dwell in that light and shadow we photographers strive so hard to capture in images, but always fall short in the pursuit of. Gods speed Bruce.

Another lesson in always having your camera on hand. I'm down at the Tacoma waterfront this evening, hear a loud rush of air to my left, and here goes this whale cruising by. clickclickclickclick....

Looks like dual slots to me. Interesting set up. Will have to see what it's all about. I'm not inclined toward it if a ff is coming, especially since I'm shooting a IIs right now. It does sound interesting though.

Taking the kids safely over the rollers. And just off shore a bit, the seals were gathering.

No whale tonight, but I always enjoy shooting ducks. Always moving, challenging me. This is handheld at 250mm with the DA* 60-250.

I received my DA* 60-250 back from service. All cleaned, new SDM motor. I was testing it out in bad light at dusk for detail and bokeh. Handheld at 250mm, f4, ISO 400, 1/250th.

I like the clouds on the Olympic Mtns. I shoot this area a LOT as it's near my office and I walk and shoot to exercise. I had been shooting it with the K5 but seems like the IIs produces much more detail in the water.

Crappy light until that magic few moments at sunset. I shot these with the Pentax 17-70 and 43 f1.9 prime. I used a BW circ polarizer on the 43.

As someone who was in law enforcement a long time, and involved in swat and backpacking also a long time, I don't trust quick release buckles with heavier bodies/gear. We had to use them in so many applications and so much of our equipment so it was unavoidable. They are mass produced and sometimes you get one where one of the dog ears doesn't engage properly and comes loose at the worst possible moment. Seems like many of these systems have some weak link somewhere that places our expensive gear at risk, and it doesn't have to be this way. I feel uneasy with the Black Rapids approach as some people have had the metal swivel at the quick release clip fail. I understand these were redesigned to preclude that from happening again and will look into it. I asked Black Rapids if they were doing anything slash proof for travel, but they hadn't gone that direction as yet. I prefer stitched nylon webbing to quick release plastic buckles, but stitched in bombproof fashion like often found in critical climbing gear. Both times I toured Italy, I used a PacSafe slash proof shoulder strap with steel cable inside the webbing, and locking metal quick release swivel snaps at the body. But, I also attached small light carabiners from REI (about1" or les in length) at the body and swivel snaps as a backup in case one of the swivels failed. And as a backup to the more competent thieves out there. The problem in Italy (as in other places), especially Rome or Naples, are the thieves using box cutters or similar to cut straps and run. And then there are the thieves on Vespas. But they will also just pulled the strap over your head and run so I had another smaller width pacsafe slash proof strap snapped to a Black Rapids metal ring on the bottom of my camera body and attached to my Lowepro Holster D ring as a backup tether. My theory, was that they would end up taking me with them, whereupon I would proceed to kick their hiney. As for this system, it was easy to carry and shoot at will, and I didn't have to preoccupy myself with my surroundings constantly. The thieves were there, but they probably saw my setup and knew my camera was going nowhere if they tried. The tether was great because if I dropped the camera, it would not hit the ground. When eating out, I put the camera in my holster, slid it behind me, and no one was getting anywhere with any of it. I put metal rings on the zipper bodies themselves and a small lock. Obviously this set up isn't necessary for day to day shoots we all (hopefully) are doing, but it sure gave me freedom and peace of mind when traveling.
