UPDATE
Package has arrived and I've received a 2009 GR Digital III.
Okay then, back it goes. Ordered the K-3 II.
I'm kinda pissed.

43700. Hmm. Thought it would be higher.
It just stopped working mid-event. Symptoms matched those described here. After all its service, I don't mind retiring it—I'll even hold on to it as a keepsake.
I've been intrigued by the GR series all along since the GRD/GXR days, so it'll be nice to finally have one in hand. And I'll have to follow up with another DSLR sometime next year anyway. edit lol I just opened the left-side rubber port cover for first time since I-don't-know-when. It snapped at the "hinge" and popped right off.

Hi, it's been a while.
My K-5 IIs finally died. Bought in late-2012, it's the only DSLR I've ever owned.
Big trip coming up very soon. Thankfully, I have enough time to arrange an alternative.
The flagships are way out of my budget. Choice was between a K-3 II and a KP, both second-hand. Then I thought about maybe, just maybe, not lugging my lenses around.
I bought a GR III. :p

Fuji's X-mount lenses focus by-wire, don't they?

I can't bring myself to take the same, old Mt Fuji with snow, Mt Fuji with sakura blossoms, Itsukushima gate standing in the ocean in high tide at sunset photos that everyone else takes. So I went looking for new landscapes.
No matter what way I look, I can't find a scene devoid of industrial machinery.
So why shouldn't I embrace it?
I've been thinking about a small, personal project called Kyushu Winter, to stand as a stark counterpoint to the glorious clear days and snowscapes everyone else seems to find.
This is pretty much what I have in mind.

If you're using SR to refer not to shake reduction in general, but specifically Pentax's trademarked Shake Reduction, then it's a pretty empty boast.
There'd be no contest, and no contest means no winner.

Just one thing from me:
In comparing this size-wise to the SL1, people have mentioned prism vs mirror viewfinders, and also Pentax's inclusion of SR.
Don't forget the AF screwdrive motor!

More seriously, I have read some wishes from forum members here that Pentax would release some kind of "pro" Q body, something with a blisteringly fast burst mode (Nikon 1-style), built-in portrait grip with a monstrous battery (would still be small relative to any other non-Q camera), a high quality EVF, and of course, a magnesium alloy body that can take one hell of a beating. And it's not like newspapers need larger-sensor IQ anyway, so although this is a very specific niche to target, within this niche this seems like an ideal solution.
Doesn't take "my sensor is bigger than yours" egos into account though. And I fear that one factor would kill it outright.

Why does it matter to you that what matters to others matters to him?
Now, were I tutoring a non-English speaker, I'd be loathe to explain the grammar behind that little beastie.

IIRC the two cameras also have different sensor cleaning mechanisms, and the K-5's outperforms the K-30's.

The leap from APS-C to 135 is only about a stop or so, isn't it? (in terms of IQ)

Actually, if you keep your eyes open you can probably find an FA 100mm f/2.8 macro for just a little more. (Not to be confused with the f/3.5.)
Now that is awesome glass.

From Ming Thein's page on Illusion vs delusion vs reality:
This is Ming himself responding in the comments section. Seems he's perhaps a little excited about the 645Z.
He's pretty brand agnostic, and simply uses the Right Tools for the Job, be it his D800E, EM-1s ('s' for plural), his beloved GR, or his 6x6 Hassy V. Still, Pentax could gain an influential advocate if the 645Z delivers the goods for him.

Regarding the M 28/2.8:
See this thread: OH MY GOODNESS! WRONG TITLE! I mean its M 28mm 2.8
It deals with the price of exactly the same lens, albeit with some initial confusion. Disclaimer: I was reasonably active in that thread. Read it in its entirety, don't take snippets out of context.
