Like New. Rarely used. Includes original box and warranty.
This is the angled eyepiece version for Pentax K mount lenses. Works as a 10x eyepiece... A 200mm lens will function as a 2000mm lens which is the equivalent of a 20x spotting scope. I found this very useful.
It is only for sale as I have acquired an original NIKON Lens Scope Adapter that I will be using with Nikon Telephoto lenses.
This Lens2Scope adapter has one advantage over the Nikon... It has a tripod mount.

If you look at the silver finished version on the silver K3, it is really sweet looking. I am sure it feels wonderful in hand.
One nasty trend at Nikon is to introduce lenses that do not even have a focus ring. All but one 1 Nikon lens does not have a focus ring and if you wanted to manually focus, there is an awkward method where you set focus to Manual in the menu then use the ring control on the back of the camera to adjust focus. On top of that, there is no focus peaking!
The 1 Nikon 32mm f1.2 does have a focus ring (like the 06 Pentax) since it has narrow depth of field, but there is no focus aid other than an enlarged image on the LCD/EVF. Thankfully for 1 Nikon owners, the AF is fast and accurate.
Lenes like the Pentax Limiteds are a special pleasure due to the quality and materials of their design and construction.

modern lenses have different designs when it comes to camera focus. All use a focus ring, but the ring may be an electrical control.
1) Motor to move the lens elements. The motor's position is controlled by the "focus ring", but it is really an electrical control. Rotation of the ring is translated to direction and distance of lens element movement If the lens is not powered, there is no movement of the lens elements even if the ring is turned. The Pentax 06 lens for the Q is an example.
2) Mechanical rotation of the focus ring moves the lens elements via a helical. A motor may also move the helical. AF control from the camera is via the motor.
3) Mechanical rotation of the focus ring moves the lens elements via a helical. A motor in the camera body turns a screw that also moves the focus helical. The DA 70mm f2.4 uses this design. I know this design is NOT used with the Limited 20-40 zoom.
My question is which design is used for this lens.

One question that i have that has not been addressed concerns manual focus.
With the new "silent" motor focus, is the focus only with the motor when powered or can the lens be mechanically focused with the ring?
Such an application would be with the Pentax Q with the k to Q adapter.

That is my understanding as well, especially for catadioptric (mirror) lenses.
I did think that short telephoto lenses (like the SMC M 100mm f2.8) would have the infinity focus stop correlate to the infinity marking on the lens barrel. This is important to me as I want to be able to just turn the focus ring to infinity and have that be in focus.

One thing I have noted with various adapters and different digital camera bodies is that most adapters have a slightly shorter flange distance than spec. This allows most lenses to focus to infinity. If the adapter was out of spec longer than flange distance, it would act as an extension tube for shorter focus at the expense of infinity focus.
This is not necessarily a bad thing since it allow a lens to have some variance for focus at infinity to compensate for environmental conditions including temperature of the lens itself or for manufacturing variances. This is especially true for mirror lenses.
I have a SMC M 100mm f2.8 lens that I just received. I note that on the Pentax Adapter Q for K mount lenses, this lens achieves infinity focus before the infinity stop. "It will focus past infinity."
When I mounted the SMC M 100mm with a Novoflex Pentax K to Sony E adapter to a NEX-6 and focused the lens I noted infinity focus was achieved prior to the infinity stop. My experience is that Novoflex adapters are usually exactly on spec and infinity focus is only achieved at the infinity stop for the lens.
It is my expectation that the Pentax Adapter would have the exact spec for flange distance and achieve focus at infinity only at the infinity stop for the lens. I fully expect that "cheap" adapters would not be as precise as a Pentax or Novoflex adapter.
Question: When mounted on a K dSLR or K-01, it is common for the SMC M 100mm to focus past infinity?
Question: Is this an issue of the Pentax adapter or is this an issue of the lens?
Question: Can the SMC M 100mm be serviced to adjust the infinity focus spot?

seems that the only thing assured when using a generic adapter is that the Q is forced to use the electronic shutter.
I agree that the main reason to use the Pentax adapter is the leaf shutter, however the build quality of the adapter is as high or higher than Novoflex. Specifically the aperture ring control with a Lock position for lenses with aperture rings, the marked positions for DA lens aperture, and the foot for a tripod mount is very well made and show considerable thought went into its design.
So I wonder if the fact I can not enable the electronic shutter is a feature of my Q or Adapter, or is it a malfunction.

yes, but I have observed that with the adapters shutter, there seems to be an unexpected delay in shutter activation compared to the 06 lens. There is also some vibration.
I just wanted to see if there was a difference shutter on vs electronic shutter

Help
I was using the Q with the Q K mount adapter and both the DA 70mm and a SMC M 100mm when I noticed that the leaf shutter in the adapter was always firing. I attempted to disable the shutter and it still fired.
I tested the Q body with the 06 lens and I was able to disable the leaf shutter.
The Q has firmware 1.13
adapter has firmware 1.00
I thought the leaf shutter could be disabled like with the lenses.

The CarrySpeed/Swivi is a superb hood/loup for the K-01. It makes the K-01 large and bulky. I find it ideal on a tripod outdoors.
I found the ClearViewer to be a much more compact alternative. I have the tripod socket version and it really tranforms the K-01. It is a solution for hand holding the K-01 an allows an eye level view. Very important with my over 40 vision.

None of these solutions would be needed if Pentax/Ricoh would release a K mount camera with an eyelevel EVF.

Very true. I would love a Spotmatic D, ME-D, or MX-D. Use an EVF instead of mirror and pentaprism/pentamirror.
I very much like my K-01 with DA 70 and DA 21. I have problems outdoors from glare on the LCD. Only a hoodman style loup corrects the LCD viewing issues and that is just too bulky.

Your point is well known. Welcome to the club.
I have be very frustrated that Pentax has chosen not to implement accessory EVFs with the Q, Q10, MX-1, and K-01. There is not an accessory port for any EVF. This is a missed opportunity.
btw: Leica uses the Olympus EVF for the M type 240.
Panasonic yesterday introduced a very compact camera (Lumix DMC-LF1) with a small integrated EVF that shows how it can be done with a small camera with minimal increase in size. The EVF is only a low resolution 0.2" (5cm) size, but should be very usable in bright outdoor light. I would love a similar design for my Q and K-01.
For the 01 Prime Lens, a 50mm equivalent is useful for framing, but not focusing.
I find the clearviewer to be an excellent solution for using the LCD to fine focus, especially now that focus peaking is implemented. The folding version that attaches via the tripod socket is very useful and not bulky like the hoodman types.

I also just received a Carry Speed Swivi VF3.
1) It mounts without any issues on the K-01. (the mounting plate has about 2cm overhang on the left due to the K-01's tripod socket location.)
2) I configured the VF3 "upside down" to mount on the Q.
I can confirm that when the VF3 is configured "upside down" it mounts on the Q and the entire LCD can be seen. This works very well with the 01, 02, and 06 lenses. Mounted with the 06 zoom, there was no sense of added weight. This is probably due the the weight of the VF3 mounting plate being in the same location as the center of mass of the Q. The balance is superb.
I can also confirm that it will not allow the Pentax OEM K to Q adapter to fit. With the K to Q adapter, a spacer will still be needed.

I suppose this would be the approach to adapting the OEM Pentax K to Q adapter to accept Nikon mount lenses, especially AIS and other legacy Nikkors.
The Nikon F flange distance is 46.5mm, so it would only need an additional .5mm (.94mm total) in the conversion.

I have a Black K-01 now. It supplements the GXR and gives me a platform to use my two DA limited lenses (70 and 21). I prefer the ergonomics, menu system, and the EVF of the GXR. I have a K to Leica Mount adapter, but it does not have an aperture control ring. When the DA limited lenses are used on the GXR mount, they are fully stopped down. If I got the new Kipon DA to Leica M adapter or the Novoflex, I would have aperture control, but still no autofocus. While the Kipon is priced around $120, the Novoflex is about $300. It is much more cost effective to purchase the K-01 body (and I did).
Because of the issues of glare, i would really prefer an EVF. I also prefer an EVF since I have older eyes that no longer accommodate like they used to so the K-01 is difficult for me to hold.
With the K-01 discontinued, there is still a need for a high quality, more compact, alternative to the K-30 or K5. I think such a camera with an integrated EVF would be more compact and very usable. It would be a worth addition to the K-30 and K-5 and a fantastic followup to the K-01, classically or Mark Newson styled. A KAF module for the GXR would provide a similar solution.
Pure speculation, and remembering the initial suggestions about how Ricoh and Pentax would develop and market future cameras, suggests that the Pentax Brand will continue with dSLR designs like the K-30 and that Ricoh would produce high compact designs. The Ricoh brand might continue with mirrorless as well as compact cameras. The rumored GR (or GR5, or APS GR) might be the first such camera to be released. I can hope that future releases might include a new GXR body (with EVF), updated modules including a new Leica M mount module, KAF module, or new lens modules based on Pentax optics.
Consider a Limited 70mm, 43mm, 31mm, 21mm or 15mm module with leaf shutter. How compact could a module based on the 40mm XS be? If there was a Pentax KAF APS module, the 40mm XS mounted would be very compact and possibly have better ergonomics than the K-01 with the 40mm XS.
This is pure speculation. If the rumored GR with APS sensor is released with a fixed lens (28mm), maybe the future is not "lessors" or GXR modules, but carefully matched lenses and sensors in a compact body. The GRD model (or Sony RX1 model) but with Pentax Optics... 77mm? 43mm? 15mm?
I will fully admit, that this speculation fails when the Pentax MX-1 is considered. It just may be the last Hoya managed Pentax Project.
