agree with you here about all those over-whelming bells and whistles; 'feature-rich' isn't something I'm going for in camera buying.

those flashing and blinking 'awards' as Flickr calls them are annoying; I don't join groups that require them or have other posting/commenting rules.

I noticed it right away; definitely conveyed the 'vintage' image the were trying for.

those numbers seem inflated, and his timeline is accurate. I'm a Flickr addict, on there 3-4 hours per day as admin of groups.

Sounds like you (and other Australians) aren't getting the newest stock. Can you order online from other countries? Maybe you'd get some newer stock, and less BS.

I agree, their website (https://us.ricoh-imaging.com/products-compare/) is confusing. Not sure what site you'd use in your country, though. And this might help you sort out who they are these days: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentax#Europe_and_Asia
And all the above members of the forum have inserted great links.

Contraction of the camera industry also affecting DPReview?

I doubt that Amazon would hardly blink in trading away DPR, or just closing it, even though it's a great outlet for their advertising (i.e., reviews).

I like your idea of the rubber pad; this rotation's an issue for me with the Oben monopod and plate I've just started using. Maybe a custom cut piece of old inner tube would be something to try. What kind of rubber pad are you using? Thanks.

Which peak design strap?

my choice, too (the Slide); the wider, better on your shoulder. Down side is certain things won't attach to the really widest straps, like lens cap keepers and battery/filter pouches.

Yea, every lens gets dust; but the amount in or on a used lens is an indicator of how it was treated in its previous life, and how it was maintained.

my basic, walk-around filters are UV and circular polarizer as 90% of my shots are outdoors/landscapes. Variable ND, red and yellow for when I'm shooting specific sky conditions.

was the Asahi Pentax Spotmatic II in 1971 because I wanted a smaller body camera; got it at a Navy Exchange in Rota, Spain; still have it, too.

OP should explain what his definition of rinse might be. Most of us shudder at the thoughts of dousing our little units of complex electronics in water. Pentax's claims of AW/WR not withstanding.

I'm disappointed that this little battery that holds the date and time while the main battery is out is going to be an expensive service at a camera shop. It should be user replaceable. The manual makes no mention of any of this.:(
