I was out of the path of totality on the Connecticut shoreline, and clouds covered the sun during the moon's maximum coverage of 91.5%, so I put together this composite featuring images taken every five minutes, along with a screen grab from NASA TV to assuage my missing out of the real celestial show. The moon is in every image but the first. Maybe I'll do better in 2044.

I took just a couple of “grab shots”. So much is going on I didn’t want to spend a lot of time taking photos.
This was my fourth total eclipse.
My recommendation for everyone for their first total is not to take photos- the experience is so overwhelming you want to take in as much as you can.

So for you who were under totality, did ANYONE see comet pon-brooks near by?
I've seen only 1 person thru facebook, (in those suggested for you recommendation posts) with pics, but I question it because, comet is pointed away from sun, not at it, as shown in stellarium.
Or any other objects, planets, stars, near by~
Just curious.

I didn’t see anything because of rain; I did tread about people seeing the planets, didn’t hear about anyone mentioning the comet in their accounts of the event.

I've got my rig ready to go on Monday. K-3 III, DFA 150-450mm, Star Adventurer GTI tracking mount and Lee100 Solar Eclipse Filter, holder and 86mm adaptor ring. Weather provided I'll be setup in my driveway. We'll have 3 minutes of totality here.

A common grackle wades into a temporary pond during the near totality part of the eclipse on April 8, 2024. A 97% totality covered my area of Pennsylvania, unfortunately so did a large amount of cumulus clouds. K-3iii HD DA 55-300 PLM.
