latest firmware version is 1.43.
with flashair card, weird thing is, having updated the firmware on the card,
it initialised, and i could read data from the card, in the camera, ONCE.
next time i turned it on, "no-go"
i assumed my problem was all down to Win-11,
but the k3 camera will not even recognise the card.
and, the flashair Android app does not work either.
So, my conclusion must be, although Win-11 is a complicating factor, the k3 will work ONLY with the Pentax-labelled FluCard.
and,
Amazon, usa, will not ship the card outside of the usa.
So,
i got an adapter ($3), and my card-reader now plugs into the usb-c port on the computer, and i can read the card that way.
.
Thank you, Everyone, for your assistance.

everytime the politicians send our young men and young women into the face of possible death, or permanent impairment,
EVERY politician should be compelled to provide a close family member,
with those politicians' family members serving, in the "front-line", alongside all the others that are sent.
That might result in a little more diplomacy, and a little less "trigger-happy" sabre-rattling decision making.

Good one, NZ_R,
here are a few quick snapshots i took last time i was in Akaroa,
just a couple of weeks before Covid.
The Akaroa Memorial had been damaged during the Christchurch earthquake.
This was the first time i had seen it, after repairs had been completed.
On this day, the weather was not kind, but the flower beds were magnificent.
Ditto on the NAMES . . . . so many, from such a small community.
OOPS . . . think i slipped one in from Napier.
Having served in Vietnam, alongside Kiwis ('embedded' with us), i frequently ask myself one question . . . . .
WHY ?

Pentax service ????
The authorised Pentax Service Centre, in Australia, refuses to touch a K3
TOO OLD
Can't get spare parts.
Can not even get lightmeter calibrated, routine sensor clean
10 years old .... TOO OLD ????
i had 35 mm cameras serviced at 30 years

We won't mention K5
or FA lens, for cleaning ---------- Post added 04-24-23 at 05:46 AM ----------

You got it
did have a K5, as a backup to K70
Gave K70 to my son, to help with his volunteering with Wildlife Rescue Service,
Local distributor had a sale on, so i was able to replace K70 with K-F.
K5 "died", so found an original K3, low-ish shutter count, reasonable price, to be my new backup
K5, K70, KF all work(ed) WiFi.
K3 . . . . Forget it !!!! .
.
Here is a thought that someone may know . . . . .
Does the K3(ii) have the same WiFi connectivity issues as the original K3?

If i had a spare power outlet (which i don't), and desk space (which i don't), i would get out my own 7-port powered usb hub (sitting in a drawer, at the moment), with built-in bluetooth adapter, and connector for external monitor (for which i also have no desk space), and i would be using it.
My level of FRUSTRATION, just at the moment, is such that i am actually considering, after 40+years of using Pentax, i find myself seriously considering selling the lot. ---------- Post added 04-23-23 at 08:25 AM ----------

Wish my old Win-10 computer was still serviceable.
I do forgive it for failing . . . . it was 12 tears old, running Win-10 64-bit, v.21H1, 256GB SSD C-drive, 1-TB internal HD as D-drive (which now "wastes" a valuable USB port), Powered-USB port, which allowed me to charge my phone overnight, even if the computer was turned off . . . . ahhhh, memories
Now, this Up-to-Date computer, running (rubbish) Win-11, apparently thinks that battery-life is 1st, 2nd, and 3rd priorities, so, no powered USB port(s), no internal HDD for D-drive, etc.
I have no option other than to use WiFi for Printer etc,
meantime, . .
the one/two thing(s) that DOES work on new computer (WiFi & Blurtooth) . . . . i can NOT use with my "new" K3.
A K-3(iii), with built-in WiFi, is way out of my budget . . . . i "busted" my budget (saved up over 2 years of Covid Lock-downs) on my "main" camera, a K-F.
.
Anyway, i will check out that "usb-hub", and see what happens.
If computer ssupplied power to a usb port, it would be much easier. ---------- Post added 04-23-23 at 07:28 AM ----------

the external HD contains ALL my DATA files (actually, 2 of them, used on alternate days, backed-up onto a 3rd) protected by a UPS.
Yes, the Data drive is Permanent.
On my Win-10 computer, Data HD was internal D-drive, backed-up daily.
as i said earlier :

computer only has 2x USB ports.
One is dedicated to External Hard Drive, which contains ALL my Data files, plus my System Back-Ups.
Second USB port is USB-C. About the only thing that plugs into it is charging cable for my 'phone.
I have a Card-Reader . . . . . i have no USB port to plug it into.

H E L P . . . . . .
I have begun using a K3 as my "Back-Up" camera (my old K5 has finally gone R.I.P.)
Can anyone please give me a lead to a WiFi Card, that will work, in slot #2, in the K3.
.
Part of my problem is that my computer is running Win-11.
Computer has no CD/DVD drive, and restricted USB ports.
I really do not want to go back to using USB cables.
I have a Toshiba FlashAir W-04 Card, but support (and compatibility) ended with Win-10 v.21H1.
The only option to run software in Compatibility Mode is Win-8 (Yuck)(won't run, anyway, under Win-11)

Hi, zkarj,
i have recently acquired a D-FA 150-450 Lens. (On-Special :) (+'loyalty-bonus')
In my case, it is a replacement for my Long-Time-Owned Sigma 150-500, which i will now sell.
I will try to give the 150-450 lens priority, and do a review of it.
My First-Impressions ' ' ' ' ' Lovely & Compact (cf Sigma 150-500), especially zoomed out.
Well balanced
Easy to handle (cf Sigma 150-500)
i 'grasp' these lenses, with my left hand. holding onto the lens by the Tripod-Foot. Helps me hold the kit stable. Keeps my right hand free.
I do the same with the D-FA 70-210 F/4 Lens, fitted with the Tamron Tripod-Foot.
Keep an eye out . . . . when i do a review of the D-FA 150-450, i will try to remember to note it here.
Rob
..P.S.
Don't forget the AW/WR 1.4x Rear-Converter, as an option for both the 55-300 and/or the 150-450.

The Black Lenses suit the Blue body colour.
I have a DA 55-300 (PLM) lens, for my KP,
But that lens is not fully compatible with my "backup" cameras, either K-5, or K-01.
So, i "bit-the-bullet" and purchased a New DA 55-300 ED WR Lens (B&H's Sale), with 4-years 'Drops-'n-Spills' Warranty (handy for a travelling lens)
So,
Now i will travel with, either, Kp or KF, (depends where to, transport method, length of trip, my mental health at the time)
and, as a backup, either K-5 or K-01
If travelling by car, i can take the 55-300 (PLM) lens, together with D-FA 150-450, all bases covered (famous last words ??)

Selling K-50, while it still works,
Gave my K-70 to my son, for Full-Spectrum Conversion,
so,
for a 'quick-'n-easy', Holiday-Happy-Snapper, i had no option,
"SCN" modes very handy for Holiday-Snaps
Had to get a new KF
