I haven't had that problem yet because I've been mostly working on street photography. So I get the opposite problem! I'm about to take a picture with someone in it and they jump out of the way and apologize profusely. I'm usually startled by this so I just say, "Oh, it's ok," and then we both move on with our days.
And I realize this story doesn't help the Canadians plus apologizing stereotype, either.

Oh! I saw a man with a Pentax K-r today. I actually stopped him to say hi. He is the first person I have seen with a Pentax other than myself. This is in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Although I must admit I was using my Fuji X100 recently and will be for most daily photography now, so I'm afraid the chance of seeing a Pentaxian here just went down by a lot.

Just asked my friend. He said Megabox Mall, about a 10 minute walk from Kowloon Bay Station. I'm not sure what that means, but good luck!

I can even attach it to my hotshoe!
The vending machine apparently also had the Pentax K1000, Pentax K-x, and Pentax K-5. I probably would have spent a few dollars on it.

To add to this, bring both your camera and lens into a camera store if you don't know any close by Pentax shooters. They will most likely let you try it out on their display body and lenses.

Interestingly, the only other Pentaxians I run into are older guys working at camera stores. They've usually been using them since the film era. I have found that they love to talk about Pentax, and get a glint in their eyes of fond memories. In fact, I would say that 8/10 camera salespeople over the age of 35 that I have talked to are Pentax users.
But I have never seen a Pentax other than my own on the streets, not even when I went to Disneyland. Although I must admit I was using a Canon S95 there, I was surprised that none of the DSLRs were Pentax or Olympus.

Only for landscapes. I usually use the 35mm f/2.4. I will be getting the 15mm f/4.0 Limited sometime soon, which will replace my need for the kit lens. I like my primes. My main kit after that will be the 35mm, 15mm, and the 55-300mm that also came with the K-r.

There are many that I know who would say otherwise, but I feel it's a city where you get what you make of it. You have to look a little to find the greatness ;)

My name is Kevin Schenk. I am an amateur photographer from Edmonton, Alberta.
I've been taking pictures whenever I could get my hands on a camera, and was very excited when I got my first point and shoot. I've only been shooting more seriously for a bit under a year now. What changed photography from something I did when I traveled to a full time hobby was buying a Pentax K-r.
Although I haven't posted too much on it, I have started a website, which I link to in my signature. I want to focus mainly on travel photography, taking hints from street photography and more.
I plan to post on the forums more, as I've been lurking a lot over the past year!
