Asahi Pentax Super Takumar 50mm 1 4 M42 UV Cured for Yellowing of Thoriumelement 894948000402 | eBay

This really upsets me to see this. Somebody is permanently damaging a lens to make it "better". It's not even something excusable like changing the mount to work with a modern DSLR. The sad thing is I know a bunch of hipster with EOS rebel cameras are going to love this. Does anybody else think this is wrong or am I just being a whiny prick?

K-5 IIs shutter issue.

I figured out what the problem might have been. Water must have gotten under the cover for the grip connector. Is there some special way of putting it back on properly? I'm usually very careful about it. I put it on at angle and make sure to push it all the way into the edge and then push the other side in where the tab is. Then I run my thumb over it a bit just to be sure. I've seen these cameras handle some seriously wet conditions.

I haven't been able to recreate the issue. I am updating the firmware though. It was on 1.0 and i'm updating it to 1.7.

I saw that, but it's not the same glitch. What mine was doing was going off as soon as turned it on and not stopping until I turned it off. The issues may be similar or linked, but I wouldn't feel honest showing them that video. I have the battery on the charger right now charging up to 100 percent to see if that will replicate it.

K-5 IIs shutter issue.

I just got this camera yesterday, and I absolutely love it but i think i got one with issues. As soon as i got it i put the battery in and took a few shots, put the battery on the charger for a bit, not long enough to fully charge it. Then when i got home i took out the sd card, imported the pics and put the battery on the charger. Then when i took the fully charged battery and put it in the camera it started acting up. It took a few shots fine, but then it started going crazy and the shutter started going off by itself. Turning it off and on didn't do anything, it would just start going off by itself, except for turning it to bulb mode and holding down the shutter. So, i got all of the stuff back together to get ready to ship it back for an exchange, but when i got up this morning it seems to be working again. I saw other people saying this happens on the regular K-5, but not on the IIs. I'm worried because it seems like an intermittent issue i can't display to the seller, and i know I need to get it replaced. Any advice on how to describe the issue to them better or how to replicate it.

The older lenses are vastly superior in build quality, and in most cases optical quality as well. Also, most of us who have been using pentax for a long time now have a large collection of older lenses. I still buy autofocus lenses, but I still would like to use the ones I have instead of chucking them in the bin because pentax says I can't use them anymore the way they were meant to be used.

Like most people were saying at first, it would undoubtedly have to have the aperture coupling lever. Nikon has it an it doesn't kill their lens sales. If pentax leaves it out it will be the last straw, and I will finally make the move to sony. Other than that, i'd also agree that it needs to be competitive with quality. I won't really care much if it's not the absolute best, but as long as its not crap. At the moment, pentax and nikon are the only manufacturers that have good backwards compatibility, and sadly nikon has the edge only because pentax thought it would be a bright idea to cripple their mount to save money and sell new lenses. Also it would be nice if they re-released the LX body for a short time, or something like an uncrippled MZ-S.

Would it be possible to remove the yashica/kyocera mount and salvage a pentax one from a broken sigma? Aren't most sigmas built in a modular way so they can just put whatever mount they need on it? Otherwise if anybody has a yashica/kyocera camera let me know and i'll send it your way, just give me an offer. I really want to do something with it, having it sitting here is annoying.

After a little more research I think Its yashica AF which Is very similar to minolta/sony. I just cant find an adapter, but it is so close to the minolta af mount that it might be possible to modify the lens. Anybody know anything about yashica AF cameras, i can't find anything at all

I just picked up a lens in a lot I need help identifying. The only brand marking is "access tempo" its an 80-200 zoom with a max aperture of 3.8 and it's a fully auto lens for a camera that has a built in focusing motor, and it has no aperture ring. I picked it up in a lot with an f1.4 50mm smc-takumar and a 35-105 f3.5 f mount hanimex lens for 30 bucks. So if anybody knows what type of body it goes to i would be really grateful, and if anybody wants it shoot me an offer, I only wanted the other two but it looked useful. I already figured out it's definitely not PK, or EF, and its not nikon or minolta/sony. Will be uploading pictures soon.

Best film scanner money can buy? Also an affordable one.

I want to know two things. First, whats the best film scanner I could get for personal use. I'm really lazy and i would like something i could just feed a roll of uncut film through, or if i have to just in sections. Also, what is the best film scanner, period. Just plainly top of the line. (Within budget of small business) I might convince my boss to start a film scanning service to digitize peoples photos. We already do computer sales and repair, so, why not. I've been looking at some of the nikon models for myself because they look nice and professional. (Usually i wont allow that brand anywhere near my house. bunch of snobby nikon users.....Oh well).

Yeah, the KM works fine. I just need to replace the seal above the mirror, but it still works. I just don't use it because my dad broke my lens. The reason Iwant to replace it is so I can use the same lenses. My current lenses won't work on the KM, so I figure it's time to retire it. I really want an *ist so the controls are familiar between my two cameras. But it would be nice to have an MZ-S too if I could afford it.

I'm new to the forums. I guess i should start with what equipment I have.
My DSLR is a K10D, and my 35mm is a KM
Lenses: Pentax-F Zoom 35-70mm1:3.5-4.5, Sigma ZOOM 28-80mm 1:3.5-5.6 II Macro, Dad broke my old lens for my KM, and i'm looking for a WR 18-55

Also, i'm thinking about upgrading my 35mm, is it worth it to be picky and get the *ist? It has the same control layout, so it would be nice. But is it better to just get a more common older model?
