Ricoh simply doesn't have the resources to develop mirrorless for a small brand like Pentax. Their only shot would be joining the L-mount alliance.

There is a reason I wanted a s1r. Very affordable high megapixel great evf and articulating screen in 2 axis. I can live with it's size. Drawback is there are less adapters available than for E-mount and they cost a bit more.

It is actually bigger than the K-1. One of the reasons it wasn't very popular. They made the S5 a lot smaller |

It is not so hard to put out multiple full frames if they just keep everything except the sensor(implementation) the same. You could choose for a fast 24mp body or a slower 42 to 60mp, but with ultimate iq, body. All the others do it. It is just the same camera but with small differences.

My K-1 successor. Bought used, but it looks like it has hardly been used. All of the accessories were still neatly packed and it came with a second battery for €1600. Like it was someones back up body. Can't use it yet because my K an m42 adapters are still in the mail... |

Which is why a pulled the trigger and bought a barely used one. I will be using it for manual focus with adapted lenses anyway so I couldn't care less about how fast AF is. Since I got the K-1 I have mainly been shooting with the EVF so a mirrorless camera just makes more sense for me. I cannot achieve critical focus with the OVF. Especially since it is poorly calibrated to the sensor plane. On wide angle detail is just too small too see. It is about as heavy as a K-1. That hasn't bothered me. Better balance anyway.

according to dpreview: The a7R IV comes with an updated autofocus system, comprising a total of 567 on-sensor phase detection autofocus points that cover 99.7% of the frame vertically and 74% horizontally. It also has Sony's latest implementation of Real-time Tracking AF, seamlessly moving between subject tracking and face-and-eye-detection.
On a K-1 III this would only work in live view if Ricoh is willing to implement it. The sensor doesn't need to support the camera PDAF because that works indepently from the image sensor. So it really doesn't matter what AF capabilities the sensor has when shooting through the optical viewfinder.

It is made by Nuvoton in Taiwan. At least the one in the Leica SL2 is.

So how about the 47.3 mp sensor in the Lumix S1R? Wouldn't that be great for Pentax? It is still top ranking and has no PDAF on sensor, which is a bit pointless for DSLR shooters in scenarios where they use live view the speed is not needed.

So far I've only done a few shots wide open. Not super sharp, but not soft either. My copy is still operating very smoothly. 3.5 cfd is problematic. Luckily I have the 67mm attachment lens that came with the Takumar Zoom 70-150mm so I can mend that a bit. This must have been very expensive in the day and it seems like a decent enough zoom, but I doubt it can beat the SMC Pentax-a 70-210 F4 which is often dirt cheap and excellent. Here's a quick shot. I did apply some sharpening. Swirley by The lens profile, on Flickr

Recently counted them. Now at 254, not counting exact doubles and off brand mounts I can't use (But I might be getting a Panasonic Lumix S1R Then I can adapt a lot more :p).

The Bokeh is the reason why I got this lens (Ringfoto/Raynox/Optomax 135mm 1:2.8 made by Cimko, the version that takes 58mm filters. Red focussing diamond with a red drop inside) Sadkeh by The lens profile, on Flickr

These are difficult light conditions. The subject is backlit. That will show up the spherical aberration of the Takumar. This is a vintage lens design. The lens can be sharp enough wide open and there is a lot of room for improvement with some sharpening. My copy is beat up, scratched and with Fungus. Still I can make great photo's with it. It you are looking for sharp wide open You are better of with the S-M-C 85/1.8 That is a more modern design. I like the vintage look of the 1.9 better though.
