You're welcome; and please note that my photo attached to the post appears to have been eaten; but I've edited the post to include a link. Good luck!

I have this case for a Theta S, and it works well. https://www.adorama.com/irccstsbc.html
It's reasonably protective; slim; and has a magnetic closure to allow it to open silently.
Note that it is open on the sides; so it's not complete protection for a rough-and-tumble environment. But I've found it to be more than adequate when throwing it into a laptop bag or backpack. And having a belt clip is a nice feature.

A bit of a thread necro; but will the Q7 fit with the 06 mounted?
I have an aftermarket case that allows this; but I got what I paid for, and the pleather has separated badly after a few years of use. If I can use the OEM case, so much the better.

I'm terribly sorry to hear about your 06. It's one of my favorites as well.
Does Ricoh (or anyone) offer repairs on these?

First of all, wishing you a continued, speedy, complete recovery!
As for the gear, could you perhaps pack the kit, and spend a weekend carrying it (and of course, shooting!) around your current city to see if it will be feasible for a longer period of time? It'll be a good endurance test, AND an excuse to loaf and take photos for two full days.

I'd second the vote for Aftershot Pro (current version is 3).
During initial setup, I had some issues with it crashing when importing a large number (70k) images; but I was able to work that out (long story short: it would consume all 16GB of RAM during the import process and crash when it ran out of memory. I re-enabled my page file and voila).
I wanted it for two purposes: 1. to ease the process of selecting and culling shots and 2. to be able to make batch adjustments to shots.
For item 1, it's quite good - you can use hotkeys to mark shots as keepers or trash, and use the number pad to assign a star rating. Using said hotkeys and the number keys to advance to the next shot, you can fly through a set. When you actually delete the shots you've marked, it's a little slow; but it's not a dealbreaker. And you can do side-by-side comparisons of shots (it syncs the zoom level and panning between the shots) to select the best one. It works a treat.
For item 2, it does everything I want it to do - the usual exposure, contrast, and color tweaks, as well as great black and white conversions and easy stacking of exposures. I'm not terribly advanced in this realm.
It ain't perfect; but given that it's a one-time cost and quite powerful, I'm pleased overall.
Oh, and I also had to jump on the K-3II deal from Adorama. The price for the silver was NUTS!

@BigMackCam, I really appreciate the tests! So, based on your experiences, as well as those of @ToddK and @aaacb (thanks, all!), it sounds like the behavior of mine is completely normal. I also see that the multi-step focusing movement is much less noticeable in the long-to-short direction.
I've used it over the years primarily for shooting motorsports, and I generally would pre-focus on the target spot; so speed wasn't an issue. It also rarely had to rack from near to infinity; so this wasn't so noticeable.
And I have to agree, BMC - it's a fantastic performer, made all the more impressive by the fact that it's relatively compact and light (I'm looking at you, D FA 70-200mm).

It seems to be independent of all of these factors. Except in the case of small adjustments (i.e., from, say, 4m to 5m), it always happens.
If yours has the same behavior, you won't actually have to look at the distance scale - there's an audible chatter as it slows, then accelerates. And you know, I'd concur - I've shot with it for years, and it never seemed *awful* in the AF speed department. I mean, it was no 40mm Ltd or anything; but it was swift enough. It's worth noting that it always achieves focus, even if the path it takes is not as direct as it might be.
Thanks for the feedback, AND for checking yours if time permits.
