Yes, it is a somewhat knotted skein of related issues. The graphics card will do 4K, but it just doesn't output the signal as fast as more modern monitors will accept. Sigh. I think a new computer is on the horizon.

I have a gracefully aging mid-2010 MacPro (the cheese grater; 24GB). It runs OS 10.14 well. It also does a good job editing with LR, PS, and Affinity. Last year the graphics card died and I replaced it with a Sapphire HD 7950 3GB card. The card has an HDMI port (v 1.4), two mini DisplayPorts (v1.2), and a DVI port. My main monitor is an Apple Cinema HD Display which I bought used - I think it is probably 10-15 years old. So far, so good except that a replacement for the system is going to be needed sooner or later; it will not run the 10.15 OS - no big loss, IMHO. I also have an even older NEC LCD monitor running on this system. (I really like the extra real estate!)
Last week I got my ColorMunki (i1) colorimeter out and decided to calibrate the two monitors. The problem is that even after much gnashing of teeth, downloading i1's new software, the Apple monitor's color does not match the NEC. Or perhaps the NEC doesn't match the Apple's. I can't decide which is more accurate. (The Apple monitor is more yellow than the NEC's bluer tones.) So, I started pondering a new monitor (i.e., a BenQ). The BenQ has HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB-C input. BUT it has the newer and faster versions of HDMI (i.e., v2.0) and DisplayPort (i.e., v1.4).
This prompts two questions:
1. The graphics card output will be slower than the monitor can accept. The monitor will probably work fine just not as fast. Given that I don't play video games this shouldn't be a problem, I think. Right? Or will I notice?
2. The other is a more digitally existential question. If I get the monitor, I'll want to use it with a future computer. But there is absolutely no way that I'll get a new PowerMac. Their estimated prices are not to be believed. I could use it with a PC, but I haven't used one of those for a long, long time and some of my software would have to be replaced. Are those of you with all in one iMacs happy with them? How well do their screens calibrate? Do any of you use a second monitor with your iMacs? Part of the reason I've always liked the PowerMac is that if something breaks or needs upgrading it was very easy to do. It seems to have been produced when Apple still cared about sustainability and product longevity.

Thanks to everyone for the comments about the IBIS. Your results were in line with what I thought would be the case, but I've had IBIS with Pentax for so long that I wanted to check.

Jonathan,
Do you, or the other X users, find the lack of IBIS to be a problem? Or are all of your lenses stabilized?

Pentax AF 160FC Auto Macro Ring Flash Asking Price
340.00 USD Item Location
Indiana (United States) Item Description
This is a very nice macro flash, but I do not use it enough to justify keeping it. It is in like new condition and is very nicely made.
It is, I believe, Pentax's most recent ring flash for macro photography. It may also be used at longer distances, e.g. for portraits, but I have not done so. There are two "banks" of lights on the ring, which can be independently varied. Thus, the lighting need not be flat. It also has a modeling light.
The flash will operate in P-TTL, TTL, or manual mode with all PENTAX SLR or DSLR cameras with a hot shoe. Uses 4 AA size batteries (not included). There is no corrosion in the battery compartment.
Included are adapter rings for 49mm, 52mm, 58mm, and 67mm lenses, the fitted foam case, and operating manual.
My asking price is below the most recent listed sale on PentaxForums ($390) and is considerably below one for sale at Microglobe ($457 after conversion from British pounds). If you are interested, but believe this is too high please send me a PM with your counter offer.

Stego-lo-Demetrodon catches some morning sun. by UnderOpenWater, on Flickr
Limestone sculpture (1989, William Galloway) in Bloomington's Bryan Park. In order to include both a sail-back (Dimetrodon) and a tail-loop with spikes (Stegosaurus) the artist hybridized the two species. So far no children have complained.

Here is a recent example with my K5. I've edited this message because the system changes the default photo of the lens to pictures in thread comments. Anyway, if you wish to see a portrait taken with this lens, follow this link. https://flic.kr/p/27EbAEb |

SMC Pentax-F 50mm f1.7 lens - Price reduced; shipping included Asking Price
80.00 USD Item Location
Indiana (United States) Item Description
This copy is in very good to excellent condition with little to no sign of wear. Manual focus is smooth, as is automatic focus. Like all screw drive lenses there is some noise when focusing automatically. I see no sign of oil on the aperture blades or damage to the glass. Includes generic rubber lens shade, as well as genuine Pentax rear and front caps.
As shown, the bokeh on this lens is very nice. It also worked well as a short telephoto on my K5; on a K1 it would, of course, be a normal length.

This is a really nice copy of one of the Pentax gems (aka, the Three Amigos). I hesitate to describe it as such, but it is like new (what is, really?). It is black, serial #26514, and made in Japan. I won’t attempt compete with the review recently posted in Pentax Forums, but suffice it to say that should you buy it you will like it.

SMC Pentax-F 135mm F2.8 [IF] Asking Price
235.00 USD Item Location
Indiana (United States) Item Description
This is a great older lens. It takes wonderful photos, has lovely bokeh, and is - to my admittedly aging eyes - sharp all the way from f/2.8. Originally made for film cameras, it will be an excellent addition to your K1 arsenal. (Indeed, it looks something like a large bullet!) I was very pleased with its performance on my K5. I see no oil on the diaphragm blades or damage to the glass. Focusing is quick for a screw-drive lens, but you will definitely hear it when it does so. Manual focus is very smooth, although the focus ring is tiny. This copy shows some scratches on the metal barrel and the rubber trim is peeling up a bit. (Pliobond or similar adhesive could easily fix the latter; it never bothered me.) It is also not lightweight. It comes with a Pentax rear cap and a generic front cap. The lens hood is built-in so you’ll never lose it. Where did I get the [original] asking price? I took the average of completed sales on eBay and PentaxForums and knocked off $50 for the scratches. I've since checked with KEH and have lowered the price to $235.

SMC Pentax-F 35-70mm f/3.5-4.5 lens Asking Price
35.00 USD Item Location
Indiana (United States) Item Description
This is a full-frame, film era lens that works well on Pentax digital cameras. This copy is in very good condition with little sign of wear apart from a bit of the rubber trim lifting up (see photo). It should be easily repairable with Pliobond or similar adhesive, although it never bothered me enough to do so. Manual focus is smooth, as is automatic focus. The very useful “macro” (aka, close focus) setting is a nice feature. I see no sign of oil on the aperture blades or damage to the glass (see photos). Includes front and rear caps, along with a rubber lens hood.
