That's great! The important thing is that you get a good diffuser and your subject will be very well lit.
More photos from the same setup.

I did use Pentax AF540. The setup from the picture is not mine, that was my friend's. But we have the same setup with the diffuser. I am not exactly sure what it is made of, but I think polystyrene. It was used to wrap something before I used it as my diffuser.

I actually use the flash attached to the body instead of having it externally. I dont have a picture of my rig, but it looks more or less like this. I learned this from my friend, the owner of the rig from this picture.

Some of my macro shots. Some of them have been posted in this forum before. But looking at the availability of the new dedicated macro forum, I guess I just have to repost some of them :) Will upload more later. All shots with Pentax K5 and Sigma 105mm 2.8 and Pentax AF540 flash.

Your lens line up is almost as the same as mine. Currently I have DA 15, Sigma 24mm 2.8 AF, Sigma ART 35mm, DA 50mm, Sigma 50-150. So if you ask me, I would just keep the 15mm, 24mm, FA 50mm, DFA 100mm, and get the Sigma 30mm.

I have tried both and I'm going to tell you why I'm going to keep my DA 50mm.
For me, the only reason that I should keep F 50mm is because it is sharper at 1.7 than DA 50mm at 1.8. That is the only reason that might tip me to keeping my F 50mm. But it was definitely loud, literally. You should know if you have one. And all this talk about F 50mm is compatible with FF, well, DA 50mm is compatible too, and I have tried it with my Pz1-p. DA 50mm is not loud, at all, compared to F 50mm and I can accept the level of sharpness at 1.8. Some people might have different reasons, but for me, it is enough for me to keep my DA 50mm and sell my F 50mm.

Tried my Pentax DA 50mm 1.8 on Pz1-p for the first time. DA 50mm definitely has no problem with FF. Both of these shots were taken using DA 50mm. Film: 2nd roll by azerak01, on Flickr Film: 2nd roll by azerak01, on Flickr

I have the Sigma, I just need the Pentax to do a comparison. If I do have them, I will give them a try. :)

I used to have the Sigma 17-35mm and I am not sure if it was my copy, but it was quite soft. Not something that I really want to use for a landscape shot so I sold it

I still have my Sigma 35mm 1.4 Art and the DA 15mm. It is just that both of them are for very specific use so they are not exactly my to go lens. My Sigma 24mm 2.8 and DA 50mm 1.8 on the other hand, are my to go lens that I can use for almost any kind of shots. :)

I was in the same position as you few months ago. I made my readings and now a proud owner of a Sigma AF 24mm 2.8 super wide. I use it for my K5 and occasionally on my Pz1-p for that wide shot. Now I only use this 24mm and my DA 50mm 1.8 for most of my shots. My other lenses are safe in the drybox.

I can see that you want a quality outcome. If that is what you want, then Sigma it is, since you did not mention anything about weight.

the 35mm 1.4 is around 600g while the 85mm 1.4 is around 700g. so yeah, maybe 600-700g would be the expected weight.

I have the Sigma 35mm 1.4 and if this new Sigma 50mm 1.4 is anything like the 35mm, then it is something that is wonderful. However, the ART lenses certainly are not for you to use as walkaround lenses due to the weight. For that, I use my DA 50mm 1.8 and Sigma 24mm 2.8 instead.
