Congrats on your purchase!
The Pentax K5 grip, in my case, is helpful but not absolutely necessary. With the grip there is space for my little finger to rest otherwise my finger curls underneath the body. I will actually use the camera with and without though--just depends on how compact I want to be at the time.

phatstraps.com has a lot of different designs if you're into this type of thing. They offer regular or quick release connections, multiple lengths, minky fabric lining and embroidered custom text. I purchased the chevron design/regular connection and am happy with it.

Congrats on the purchase! I originally came to PF because of the K30 but decided to with the K5 and 35 2.4 instead. Handling is fantastic. With the most recent price drop I decided to pick up the DA 18-135 and look forward to its arrival.

New member here joining after seeing the news of the K30. Sorry if this is a lame question but I am unclear on how magnification works and am wondering if .92 viewfinder of the K30 would be significantly larger when compared to a Rebel XT's .8? A significantly larger viewfinder along with the frame rate in a small package would make this an ideal camera for myself. Thank you for your help. Chris
