they have the sigma 17-50 shot but still using nikon or either canon.
i'm doing this just to make sure which one to take because as i have noticed, nikon canon & pentax render colors differently even when using the same lens based upon my observation.
if there's someone there who could share some personal shots it would be very helpful.
thanks

@phaser hmmm not yet i only searched at flickr & pixel peeper most of this sites show pictures taken using nikon & canon.
thanks i'll try to look at this pbase site.
because honestly i'm trying to weight the color rendition difference of sigma & tamron 17-50.
i've read the review here, i just wanted a simple color comparison of this two lenses & the sigma shots are quite hard to find.
anyway thanks for the comments.

they say sigma 17-50 lens is a nice lens on k5 but why is it that its hard to find sample photos taken with this lens?
does it mean not much people use this lens!

Sell all you gears to make them realize that pentaxians are upset by making them wait for that FF & are already jumping to other manufacturers!!!
hahaha i'm just joking...
but seriously its happening right now everyone knows that!
for me people here are not just pushing pentax to produce that FF but are already shoving them to come up with one!
hey pentax do something before its too late!!!
i just wanted to add this that its not only the FF that the general pentaxians are concerned about but also a good lens line-up something that we common shooters here can keep & brag about.
i hope they redesign that DA*16-50.

since pentax is in for marked up versions, why make a marked up version of the sigma 17-50 f2.8 then call da* 17-50 2.8 hahaha
i think that would be awesome assuming that they have manage to make it correctly unlike the da* 16-50:hmm:

does it mean they might have the same image quality?
well anyway i hope pentax can come up again with a lens of their own that everyone here can be proud with.

ohhh & not to mention that other manufacturers are also smelling this!!!:fedup::fedup:

well at least i tried, even if they know or don't at least they should be somehow aware about it because alot of people are already complaining about this.
since they haven't got any idea might as well look for other options i wouldn't spend on something i might regret later on.

hello to all just wanted to share you this information i got from an email about some issues concerning the DA* lenses.
i hope this doesn't get me in to trouble.
I tried to ask pentax technical support a few question about the DA* & there answer got me more confused!:hmm::hmm::hmm:
here's what i sent them!
Hello & thank you for the info. But this time I just wanted to know what
arethe serial numbers of the lenses 16-50 & 50-135 that are released for
2012.
Because I found out from a certain photography forum that the 2012 release of
this lenses are no longer prone to SDM failure due the redesigned
SDM mechanism.
Is this true?
Any way at least give me an Idea it will be a very big help.
Thanks hope to read something from you god bless...
and this is there reply.
Thank you for contacting PENTAX.
We do not have a list of the serial numbers of the DA* lenses that have been
released in 2012. This information is not available from the manufacturer
or PENTAX Japan. However, PENTAX Japan has not informed us of any known
manufacturing or design defects in the DA* series lenses.
If you are in need of further assistance, please respond to this email or
call our technical support center at 800-877-0155.
Sincerely,
Randall S.

if some people from pentax claim they have fixed the SDM issues then why some say they've havent heard about it!
Confusing RIght?
oh and by the way i got that respond this september only.
if some of you this thread alarming or unfriendly the moderators can pull it out anytime they want to.
excluding me!:lol::lol::lol:

most of us already know that mechanically pentax did revised the 16-50 they even claimed that is should no longer have SDM failure so if they did i think it would be much better if they try to recall some of this lenses out there & have them fixed as well (i'm referring to the one's that are not yet sold).
& another thing they haven't looked at seriously is the CA on this lens a lot of user's still complain about this, they should have done something about this while they were busy making some corrections with this lens.
for me the CA is a lot more serious matter than the SDM because it affects the images it produces unlike with the SDM that you can still use the lens manually.
& why is it that the 50-135 has better control on CA i think they have the same formula for both lenses why do they don't take pictures similarly?
i'm not really complaining here i'm just trying to bring this up because this lenses are a bit expensive i think we deserved better for paying a high price.

wow 4 responses it seems that i'm not alone with this color dilemma, honestly guys as for starters like me, I also call myself as an enthusiasts or someone who just love to do things for other people even its for free & in my part i'm into taking pictures i agree with alamo5000 photography has always been connected with art & what better art there is, than having a lot of people appreciate it & for me that where colors comes in to the scene the more pleasing colors your shots have the more people will like it makes sense right.
yet still it defends as for what northcoastgreg said its a subjective matter in photography.
PP software wildweasel? hmmm actually i'm not in to that, for now i prefer photos fresh out of the camera funny right?
why? because first of all i have no idea on how to do it & second for me the skill of the photographer is alot more enhanced by using the camera alone the more you know how to manipulate your camera I think the better pictures you can take & if you can take good pictures with out PP what more you can do if you know how to PP your photos.
I agree with wildweasel about sigma i really like the sigma in terms of focusing speed on lowlight & sharpness but about the color i find it kind the hard a bit lifeless & sometimes dark i dont why but i think thats where the subjective thing comes in that is why its still in my list of lenses that i liked.
I like the tammy's color rendition it is as if it always shows a healthy environment or a happy place with alot of color & details to look at i find it quite attractive too, most specially if you are someone who happens to pass by & instantly notices a photo taken with a tammy i think its because of its colors.
the only thing i dont like about tammy is the way it focuses & sometimes colors are a bit bright or think its just me.
as for pentax lovely & full of life right now i have this F50 F1.7 which i bought on ebay for 200 dollars kind a expensive but i think its worth having it around very good for portraits & candids
but sadly being in saudi arabia is not a good place for a photo hobbyist because they prohibit taking photos here in public places sad but true.
thanks guys now i know that there's more to it than just colors & having people looking at my photos!

hello to all i' m new here just what my status says below my name :lol::lol:.
anyway i' ve read the technical review for the tamron, pentax & sigma 17-50 lens.
& as for a newbie like me i' m having a hard time trying to absorb the technical details & data being presented in that review.
as funny as it may seems every one here started with a single step towards photography right?
So to get things straight honestly i really like the review about the three lenses but of all the technicalities mentioned in that review.
i think the way the lens renders color was some how missed out or maybe not mentioned directly.
like for instance which lens has better color even if its sharp or not right?
as i have said i' m a newbie & newbies like me just want to take good looking pictures & pictures look really great because of their color.
i hope someone out there would try to shed some light on this matter.
thanks anyways any help will do & be very much appreciated.
God bless

OK that sounds a bit reasonable...
so does that mean there is only one release or model for every particular lens even though they don't have the same price?

yeah i know its an auction place yet still there are some retailers there who also post their products there.
& they post at exact selling price & not as for bidding.
which made me wonder a lot if there are different releases for one kind & model of a particular lens?
that made me ask which one is better.
as my thread title said just wondering?

i was wondering why some lenses of the same kind even though they are both new don't have the same price?
for instance!
the tamron 17-50 has a price range from 300 to 500 dollars in Ebay.
kind a insane right?
is it because they have different releases of the same lens?
if there is then which one is better?
right now i have the tamron 28-75 & i'm looking for a wider & all around walk around kind of lens because were planning to go madain saleh this october.
help anyone?

rebates for every purchase?
i much prefer the large discount that they gave last time to all pentax lenses how i wish i could turn back time back when the da 50-135 was less than $1000!
yet still i'm hoping that it will happen again & pentax to give a chance to those who have dslr bodies already.
people prefer pentax due to its affordabililty & great performance.
with this kind of price trend who would dare to invest on such a expensive hobby!
right?
