My dear chap, some of us understand the eccentricities of English place names, while shunning Welsh polysyllabic gymnastics, or Gaelic which makes no sense at aa', at aa'. Did the Kia dealership offer you a helmet to sweeten the deal?

What Ive learned about Ricoh/Pentax, besides them being tightliped about everything, them releasing anything new is pretty much between "who knows" and "It gets here when it gets here"

The only time they would stop someone for not using indicators would be if they wanted to stop you for something bigger, but it becomes the legally sufficient reason to stop you. During the stop they discover something else more serious which they had suspected earlier.
But even with the MOT system in force I find it shocking that one winter about one in five cars coming towards me on two lane major roads had the driver side headlight light switched off and only the passenger side headlight light on. And I have never had a car with independent switching of the headlights, mine have always and only given me a choice of both on or both off.

off you go, then - if we've learned nothing, we've learned that nothing Ricoh/Pentax does is fast....

Thanks Mark, Something for me to look into. I think this would be a good option when we are traveling, as TV in hotel rooms as TV is usually basic, and podcasts, internet radio would be more interesting to listen to. I never knew this, thx for the info. and link.

This is getting ridiculous.
The plane, Southwest Flight 3695, is a 737-800, delivered to the airline in 2015, so it is 9 years old. An engine cowling came off during takeoff. Now in 9 years o service that airplane has had thousands of takeoff and landing cycles. It has also had the engine covers opened and closed thousands of times.
The cowling coming loose during takeoff isn't the fault of the manufacturer, it is the fault of the mechanic that had worked on the airplane just prior to the incident.
Also recently the news reported that a nose wheel had come off of a Boeing 757 as it taxied onto the runway for takeoff.
The last 757 rolled off the assembly line in October 2004.
So how is it the manufacturers fault that the wheel came off of an old airplane?
No wonder I stopped watching the news and reading the paper.

When I was awarded a Professor Emeritus at retirement in 2009 I was told that a perk was lifetime use of the college EMAIL system so I could continue to use my EMAIL address. Ten years later they terminated EMAIL access for all PE's. No official reason was given, nor was it possible to determine who made the decision. A good friend who was also a PE had a friend in the tech department, and was told that maintaining all PE's on the EMAIL system was an excessive burden. There were 50 of us, the system had several thousand users, but that extra 50 was just too much. After maybe 20 years of using that EMAIL address, it took me a long time to remember and change all the places that had that address, such as on-line merchants and financial institutions that required it as a personal identification for login, and required a change ASAP. College requests for financial support go directly to the recycling bin.

It is not clear if the words mean your lifetime or the item's lifetime. The item's lifetime lasts from when you buy it to when it fails, which could be next day. It is the second meaning that makers are inclined to take, although with some discretion.
There are many similar phrases that are used by advertisers and others that sound much better than they really are. I remember my boss asking someone in another department to do something that was urgent to us "as soon as possible". When nothing happened for a couple of days he pursued the matter and was told they were doing it as soon as possible, but it would not be possible for another four weeks.

Congrats Mark.
About a year ago, I bought a new Apple 13. My previous phone was a Nokia I had for about 14 years....so I called it my Nokia 14.
The difference in advanced technology that enabled my new Apple to do so many things that I could not do before with my old cell phone was astounding....to me.
I used my old phone just for making phone calls and texting .
The Apple 13 has made a significant difference in life....and yes, I'm sure its technology suffers, compared to the latest and greatest.
I don't leave home without it. :D
As far as photography goes...both still and video....it really is a competent little camera...to have as a daily carry. It is no K1, but as a small, easily toted still/video...it is hard to beat.

My wife and I went to a costume party last Halloween. The theme was "dress as a flower". She had to go as a dried arrangement.

How about a newly built workshop/storage shed exclusively for her hobby? Considering that I recently contributed several days of photographic documentation work to her research, I feel pretty safe at the moment :-). This would have been an excellent time for a K1 III release.

in all sincerity (full of sarcasm), it seems we could still see through the viewfinder when it is lowered to street pavement level to get that reflection in a puddle of water. It's flippy-proof! :D ---------- Post added 04-04-24 at 12:38 AM ----------
