A very common problem with Landrover Discoveries and Range Rovers. Highly annoying!

True, but I already have the cameras so I can run the lights and power points off the same app and thereby the app will allow me to generate random patterns for lamps and timing working around sunrise and sunset for the aquarium, all customisable from the app interface with the ability to check it's all working as it should using the cameras for verification when we're not home. And if we're out of time I can reset it all remotely from the app so there's a number of benefits over the old style time switches.

Cool article Les. Nice car. Only things I spot that needs correction are:
Fairlane tail lights with central back-up light. Should have the solid red tail light option, which uses a different chrome bezel.
Eyebrow- trims over headlights should be colonial white, not green.
Interior door opening handles are at the wrong angle - should be about 2 o'clock.
'58 radiator top tank. (A logical change as the '57 top tank was a poor design - I did the same with my '57.)
Other than those minor points, this a near perfect '57 Country Sedan wagon.

I've been meaning to get a few of the smart sockets and smart lamps for some of the lamps in the house and for the aquarium lighting. Will be nice to have the aquarium lights tun on and off at pre-determined times and will be good to simulate people at home when no-one is home.

Here the banks do less and less. Cheques are gone like fax machines and forex is gone too.

It's no different with many consumer items. I bought a Ford Mondeo (Fusion in the USA) for $10,500, latest body shape, few years old, when the new car was $40,000. It's a great car, but I would not have been in the market for a $40,000 car.

I've bought more camera gear secondhand than new. Perhaps my secondhand purchase allows the seller to fund a new purchase - perhaps not!

Indeed. I've just bought one for my daughter as a birthday present. It was the no. 1 thing on her birthday wish-list.

What resolution monitor do you use?

What I like most about the 4K display on my HP laptop is that the pixels are too small to be seen. It's a 17" display, so I suppose if it was larger one will still see the pixels, but it's pretty nice to look at. I also use (as second monitor) a curved Samsung HD 32" screen, so I do see the pixels on that.

Flick me an e-mail with your current property record and I'll ask my wife to find the historical titles.

Get 4K (3840x2160) if you can. It's a huge improvement over lower resolutions.

Very nice Gub. My wife is a Technician Surveyor and regularly works with downloads from LINZ which are beautifully drawn old survey maps. LINZ store these in very high resolution. Most of the old surveys are remarkably accurate considering the technology used - survey chains over rough undulating terrain.

Yup, down for me too.
It's not that the site does not appear, it's just excruciatingly slow.

I'll certainly do so, popping in to see her later today.
She had a great birthday and even got to see both her grandchildren.

Pretty normal with a battery that's not as good as new. I've seen the same thing happen with my K5 and my K-1II.
Especially when using Live View.

Various work and life stuff conspire to keep me infrequently away from the forum.

Starting last Monday, and tonight, and next week Monday, we have the 35th annual Kids Triathlon (the oldest Kids Triathlon in New Zealand) and yours truly have for the last several years done the race timekeeping and registrations. So, while trying to get work done too, I'm a wee bit busy. We have 474 kids from ages 3-17 entered.
Still, a great event. For the princely sum of $10 entry fee, they get three Monday night triathlons, (swim-bike-run), a free T-shirt, lots of free stuff in a goody bag each and fantastic spot-prizes, with the major price each night a pretty decent bicycle, not to mention the many other prizes.

The weekend was spent doing exterior house maintenance. And I washed and detailed both cars. Oh, and went for a 75km bicycle ride Sunday morning. And visited my mom at the old age home. I have one window sash I'm rebuilding as the sash has dry rot. And I'm about halfway around the house cleaning gutters (or spouting as it's called here).

Next weekend, we'll have a full house as it's my mom's 90th birthday and my daughter's 25th birthday.
