Poll: Poll - Preferred Future FF Kit Lens?

That is of course assuming Ricoh would see the economic base for FF in the pro market. My hunch, with no evidence to back it however, is that the main economic market for Pentax FF would be enthusiasts or those looking for some form of exclusivity from being seen to own the top of the line product of a niche brand with history.
With the Pentax track record of flash control and focus accuracy I'd be wary of trying to earn a living in wedding photography in this brand camp.

Poll: Poll - Preferred Future FF Kit Lens?

Kit lens need to be versatile as they are by definition for people without a significant lens collection. Considering how much I use the wide end of my 17-50 and 18-135 I'd say it would need it to make at least 28mm at the wide end, preferably 24. At the long end in a kit (ie. affordable walkaround) lens I'd happily sacrifice a little speed in a FF for some extra reach as long as the image quality was good. Either of the 24-105 or 24 - 135 options above would be great if the optics delivered.

Finally, a DA 12-24! Great companion to the K-30 I 'upgraded' to from the K-5. With Pentax finally getting their digital act together under Ricoh I'm getting to be a happy Pentax owner again.

K-5 vs K30 Batteries

I've moved from a K-5 to a K-30 and the reduced battery life is noticeable. 2 new developments in AA have reduced the difference though:

You can now get 2.5 Ah Eneloop AAs which with the AA adaptor give almost D-L190 capacity. Generic battery holders for the K-R / K-30 can be picked up for $10 on the net so easy to carry a number of backups. You can also now get 1450 Li Ion AAs but they require re-wiring the battery holder to series/parallel.
7.8 wh D-L109
9.6 wh 4 x 2000 mAh AAs
11.1 wh 4 x 1450 Li Ion AAs @ 750 mAh
12 wh 4 x 2500 mAh AAs
13.4 D-L190

Hey Duplo, fantastic idea and great generosity of spirit.

This shot was taken at Lake Mackintosh in Tasmania's wild West Coast mountains. It's a man made power generation lake.
To me these impoundments highlight the cost we pay for our lifestyles. That tranquil looking lake holds the power to run a small city. It's virtually carbon free and allow many to access the wilderness when otherwise it would only be for a select and very hardy few. The cost though is sacrificing exquisite rainforest valleys, the disease and loss of habitat from the fires that inevitably follow roads into wilderness, and all sorts of impacts on native fish species from blocked migration and introduced recreational fish like trout and salmon.
What makes this shot for me is the tree stump looking like an invader emerging from the lake to re invade it's home, like an old B movie monster. The West Coast has a very fragile ecosystem, with only the basest skin of topsoil centimeters thick and trees are very slow growing - the oldest recorded trees on the planet are there. Once the topsoil is lost the high rainfall prevents new soil getting a hold so recover is a process measured in centuries (see the scar around the lake edge). For the tree stumps left from the logging done before flooding once the topsoil washes away they are left sitting above the bedrock looking somewhat octopus like.

The shot was taken with a K200D and Sigma 17-70. Sweet spot aperture and mirror lockup but can't escape the limitations of the zoom. I've now saved up and traded up to a K5 and next want to compliment it with a wide and standard prime so I can get more detail for shots like this.
