Would have loved to be there, but it would have been a bit expensive to travel just for the evening... I settled to go and monopolize the Ricoh/Pentax salesman for one hour during the Lyon event the day before, it was still a good experience.

There's a patched dcraw version project on github, but you need knowledge on source code compilation to be able to use it... I'm not sure a lot of projects know to to assemble a PS image: it seems to rely on multi-image DNG files (something that was originally done to store multiple exposure for HDR processing) and some auxiliary information for pixels that moved.

Hi, I'm the guy that worked on some K-1 support in darktable :)
Basic support is ready is the last release, but since my K-1 is now in repairs, I cannot finish the noise profiles yet..
What is not going to work soon, sadly, is multi white balance and pixel shift as these requires significant changes in the data processing workflow.

For that to happen, the lens would have to be manufactured by Pentax, which is not a given right now. The superzoom were built and assembled by Tamron in their own factories if I remember well...

The DA* 16-50/2.8 was not a pentax design... I guess it's rather "not built in pentax factories" which is a no-go, and there's probably more quality control on the star lenses.

One mistake is easier to remember than ten successes.
On other forums, you already had comment before that, asking for each new lens if it were tamron rebadges... When all pentax did what rebadge superzoom nobody cared about.

And people were already always asking if pentax lenses were just tamron rebadges... Well, I never wanted this one anyway, neither the 15-35 f/2.8: bring forth the DFA 20mm f/3.5 LTD, damnit!

Actually, some things changes, for example, you have a full rez processed jpeg preview in PEF (at least, until K-5) while preview in DNG is low-res (768 lines if I remember), plus maybe some more proprietary information.
People tend to say that opening DNG files is easier and ready, but as far as I know, DNG do not specify enough for a straightforward opener, there's still a lot of camera-specific stuff that require to be added for software to actually support new cameras.

I have been wondering and searching for a long time: did anybody do even a the draft of a study to prove the harmlessness of using EVFs?
For years, we've been told to stay a good distance from screen to avoid eye fatigue/damage, and now some people put theirs against LCD screens...

Funny, those times, I was under the impression the majority of people with cameras (read phones) had only pictures of themselves :D

www.pentax.fr works fine... maybe it's just a comeback to a better division name? ;)

I'd love to see that too, if they can keep the quality of the 60-250mm. On FF, I'd give up F/2.8 for F/4 to gain a little more reach without compromising anything else (not that I don't see the appeal of a 70-200/2.8).

I have the B+W 49mm F-PRO polarizer (*not* the XS) and it works like a charm despite appearing quite thick. It's also up to the optical quality of the 15mm.

In low light action, they are: the subjects can fill the whole frame or you may have to recenter the scene by cropping and bad corner performance will be more noticeable with one side noticeably sharper than the other.

Canon registration distance is so short the aperture lever hits the mirror on many FF canon bodies. You have to permanently damage the lens or the body.

I'm left handed and I don't have issue with the handling of a SLR... My right hand fingers are able to push a button, in fact I prefer keeping my left hand for fine focusing/zooming.
