I would call it a lens protector rather than a UV filter. The idea is to throw away the original lens cap. Taking off the cap before pressing ON button every time is very inconvenient.
It's like the glass cover in front of a cellphone's camera.

that sounds very non-understandable. since the overall weight, dimensions and $$ value are already there, why aren't they automatically taken into account when people place the orders and select the shipping methods through your website?
We know that you can't guarantee there will be a shipping discount applied automatically when calling in. BUT, if we don't make the call, how do we know if there will be or not? for this reason, I would call you every time for future order.

If I were you, I would try it on an earlier Pentax camera body like K100D or istD to confirm if screwdriving focus is working well or not.

If you meant for a manual lens, I would agree. for an AF lens, it shouldn't have been an limiting factor, otherwise it should be an issue of poor lens design. as far as I know, sigma AF 50 1.4 has good sharpness at wide open, and not hard to achieve that.

if it is just good at 2.8 or up for the da*55, I would prefer to go for 50 1.4 1.7 or 1.8. All pentax prime 50mm lenses have good performance at 2.8, but they are just half price of da*55.
I bet people planning to get the da*55 would expect to use 1.4~1.6. at least I expected my 50 1.4 can do good job between 1.4~2.0, but not in reality. @Docrwm, I do have a hood with my FA50/1.4.

FA50/1.4 was used to be $200+ NEW a few years ago.
I saw there are couples of used copies selling here, asking around $250 can't go quickly. I also watched on my local used market, lots of FA50/1.4 asking $200~$250 have been there for weeks and weeks.
btw, my copy of FA50/1.4 has very poor performance at aperature 1.4~2.0. I am only confident of using over f/2.8 for good sharpness.
Full Frame? I think it's a joke for Pentax! ooops, now for Ricoh!
