Located in the oldest forest in the world, these trees live for 4000 to 5000 years, and even after dying, can stand for another 5000 more years. Which means, it is possible that some of these trees have been standing for as long as 10,000 years. To put that in perspective, that is when Mammoths became extinct... that is during Post Glacial Sea Level Rise time period... that is when Mesopotamian civilization was beginning. |

Steps.
Maybe this doesn't really meet the topic but I thought I would post it anyway, to see if we could get things going here. |

Like Sealonsf, we've had either no clouds or uniformly gray days. Except for one brief time when what the weather gurus call a dry slot moved through briefly, with cumulus clouds. So I thought I'd enter an unusual perspective, since at the time I couldn't rush outside to find a good view that was unobstructed by utility wires: Reflecting the Clouds |

I am really really excited about my shots from today. I don't know if I have heat-stroke, or maybe it is the vibrant colours. I even enjoyed taking a picture a flower eating caterpillar that is about two cm. long when stretched out. Here are my favourites! Thanks for being here!! |

One more shot before the weekend.
This was taken with my K7 which is the replacement (back up) for my now defunct K5 - being repaired).
Wild roses abound nearby, all along the St Lawrence River shorline and trails ... smeels good and attarcts a lot of smaller birds.
Enjoy. A song for the roses by Natimages, on Flickr

I have been taking a lot of bird photos through the window of our RV - it has just been too dang hot to be outside. We were lucky to have a stand of blackberries just outside and that brought in lots of birds.
#1 Indigo Bunting
#2. American Robin
#3. Bluebird
#4. Cedar Waxwing
#5. Song Sparrow I think
Hope you enjoy looking.

We have plenty of squirrels around, but mostly gray and red varieties, but the black squirrel is kind of rare to see. This year we have one who is a regular visitor.
We heard about the intense heat down there in Texas - it's still hot up here in Pennsylvania, but 80's is a lot better than 100's I guess. This guy is having a little treat of Black Oil Sunflower seeds in the morning while it was still cool.
