I am fairly new on this site. I have to admit...I read what this guy has to say. I do trust the words of others on this site when needing to learn a little, but RH brings me entertainment. It appears as though he has the major players on the forum right where he wants them. They all respond, and they all defend their gear and their choices to stay loyal to the underdog (pentax). He is the voice of a man who resents pentax for not being one of the other 2. Pentax will always be Pentax. A great little secret. If Pentax put out a camera that defeated the greatest DSLR's on the planet, RH would be lost.

I just read a review claiming some users find this lens to have a "plastic" feel. Does it?
What about comparing it to the feel of the 18-55mm kit lens.

So anyone without back focus and front focus problems should have nothing to worry about with this lens?

Put it on and start shooting?

Mine was shipped this morning from BH. I live in the Arctic so it will take about 10 days to get here:(

I chose it over the sigma.

flash techniques anyone?

I got it off the camera last night. However, I noticed wireless is not an option in green mode...which of course makes it easier as I learn.

When most photographers shoot in manual while using the flash, is it a general rule that they will have to constantly play around until everything works out. Shooting manual with the camera alone is a breeze for me, but now with the flash, it is a whole new ballgame.

Why is my metering within my camera while manual telling me I am under exposed and yet it insists I stay well under exposed while using the flash. If I try to set my levels as if there was no flash being used at all, then fire the flash, everything is blown out.

Hi,

I started using my new af-360 last night. I was very satisfied with the results, especially when bouncing.

I would like to know if any of you have techniques, besides bouncing, that makes one believe a flash wasn't used at all...while connected to the camera:)...(accessories yet to be aquired)

Thahnks for the responses.

Thanks guys for all the help.

I see that there are some limitations with the old lenses, but they are sweet to play with.

My favourite oldie is a Ricoh 50mm 2.0 Feels so nice to manipulate the focus ring!

Do I have to lock it again in order to use my regular lenses, or can I leave it one I have disabled the lock?

I have some old lenses. They are not Pentax lenses, but they work with my Program A, and my ist dl. However, they don't seem to operate with my new k10d. I just get F-- flashing in the viewfinder. Is this the end of some of my non-pentax brand lenses?

Thanks Gooshin,

That's 1 for the pentax.
And that is where I will start to lean if they keep coming that way.

Please keep the opinions coming!

sigma 30mm vs. pentax 30mm

Thanks gooshin,

I should say, I meant to inquire about the 35mm f/2.0 pentax lens, not 50.

What I want is good low light, bokeh and great color reproduction.

I just want an opinion on why one likes the idea of one lens over the other.

sigma 30mm vs. pentax 30mm

Hi,

I am looking to enhance my lens collection.

I am wondering if any of you out there use the Sigma Normal 30mm f/1.4 EX DC Autofocus Lens. I am also wondering about those who use the pentax SMC 50mm f/2.0.

BHPHOTO sells both and the price difference is $130.00. The Sigma being more expensive.

Is the quality in the sigma lens, aside from the obvious f/stop gains, worth the price difference?

LBA!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

Jay

I am a new member on this site.

I have been using pentax since 2000, so in some regards I am new with the gear too.

I just want to say to heck with being civil and learning about camera gear and furthering ourselves as photographers. Bickering makes for an entertaining site and keeps the users coming back for more;)

This post was destined to have debate. While informative, it invites those with strong opinions to continue to argue their points.

Pentax is a small club. It consits of 2 users. Those who are proud of the company as a provider for the little guy who can't dish out $5000 on a truely professional. And those who want Pentax to join the ranks with Nilkon and Canon.

Either way, we should belong together.:)

1 everyday fixed lens: advice requested

POKE is right

the Pentax 50mm 1.4 is quite possibly the biggest steal out there. It remains on my k10 80percent of the time. So fast, so accurate and it has a nice solid heavy feel.

BHPhoto sells them for a decent price.

Perhaps those of us who have stumbled upon this lens should keep it a secret and take all the credit when we display the amazing images it produces.

Either way, enjoy Lima!

I can't find it.

I looked at dozens of items tonight and it got lost in the maze of pages I crossed over.

I should correct myself in saying, it was a forum, and not a review.

It felt like a hearsay remark, but I just wanted to check with this forum to see if anyone very familiar with the camera has either heard or experienced this.

I just read in a review that if the shake reduction on the k10d fails, so does the camera.

Myth???
