Can someone inform me what 2x tele-converter would fit a SMC Pentax-A 400mm 5.6 lens and be able to use it on a K10d? Thanks:confused:

Has anyone used the Opteka XL remote release on the K10D? If you have, does the unit work well with the camera? I know if I use the remote F release with the K10D, I have 5 min. to use the remote or the K10D will revert back to "normal"-which means, either use the remote within 5 min or lose the opportunity to make a shot. So I am looking for a remote that will give me unlimited time to make a shot. Thanks for any feedback.:confused:

thanks for your reply. I'll try that approach. Although, I've checked the manual out & have'nt found any info on the subject. It is irritating to have the camera revert to "normal" shooting after 5 min. waiting for birds to land where I want them to. Yes, I've left my switch on many times & found it like that the next morning.

When using the remote control on the K10D, the time on the camera to use the remote is 5 min (if the rc is not pressed within those 5 min, the K10D reverts to standard operation). Does anyone know if that 5 min can be extended longer? I like to shoot birds and whenever I do this I have to press the rc every 4.5 or so minutes to keep the camera operational. I have a timer to keep me in the know when I must press the rc.

I have a 400mm Pentax "A" lens and a 2x teleconverter. I know that I have to have the Pentax K10D set on "manual focus". Do I havehave to rely on my manual settings for the aperature & shutter speed? I assume that the camera will not set the aperature/shutter speed. Should I set my dial to "M"? Thanks in advance.

Is'nt there some product out there that one could use to charge the K10D battery while traveling on the road? Seems that some company would have come up with that little feature. I am going to Utah soon (out in the boonies) and would like some back-up system so I would be able to keep on taking shots. Is purchasing a 2nd battery the only option?
Thanks in advance.:(

Could someone explain the difference between "Lightroom" & "Photoshop"?

I got a new Pentax K10D about 2 weeks ago and have been learning the ins/outs. Today, I took some photos in the JPEG mode, 10megapixels. So the shots came out excellant as they have since I got the camera. However, it was in Photoshop Elements that I ran into trouble (yes, I did delete the images from the camera as I thought I was alright.). I process the images "FOR THE WEB". In the meantime I reduced the size of the file from 3872x2592 pixels to an 8x10" image size.
This is where I made some mistake. The files went too far-that is the quality may as well have been made with a cheapie camera under $35.00. I've done this before but I never had this problem.
My question, is there anyway to reverse the quality from really bad to something that is acceptable? I doubt if there is-I just need some one to comfirm it. The images are really bad that I ended up with.
Thanks in advance.:o

I just purchased a K10D and I am going thru a learning curve. For the past 40+ years I've been involved in photography so I feel qualified to give you an answer to one of your questions. Last night the moon was only 10% so I put on my 400mm Pentax lens on the K10D, set the ISO to 1600. I believe the image I have is very very good as far as "noise" is concerned. Like I said, I am still learning this camera but I believe the Pentax K10D is an extremely good tool.

Thanks for getting back to me. You're right, I really did not explain what "did'nt happen". I would press the shutter release and nothing happened. Anyway, I removed the lens and put the "A" on the lens before I coupled the lens to the body-and set the dial to "Av" and it works, everything in the viewfinder working and took the photo. I guess that one must set the "A" to engage BEFORE the lens is coupled to the body-anyway, it works. Thanks

I just purchased a new K10D and I am a little lost. I have a SMC PENTAX-A (400mm) lens and I'm not sure why I cannot take any shots. After looking thru the manual I am even more confused. I must be doing something wrong. Thanks in advance.
