I bought my first Pentax in 1980 (ME Super) and have stayed with the brand. Since the switch to digital a few years ago (K100D then K-7), I have a renewed interest in photography. I consider myself an advanced hobby photographer. Occasionally, I agree to shoot something for hire.
With a daughter considering a photography major in college, should I consider a switch to Canon equipment? I assume Canon or Nikon are the standard brands used on campus and I would prefer for both of us to be able to share equipment.
If I stay with Pentax, I am considering upgrading to a K-5, but if I switch to Canon, I may test the waters with a used 40D.
This is my equipment list, not including a few 35mm bodies.
Pentax K-7, Pentax K100D, SMC Pentax-DA 18-55, Tamron 28-75mm f2.8, SMC Pentax A 50mm f1.7, Kalimar MC 135mm f2.8, Pentax AF-360FGZ flash
