Another version altogether is proposed, finished in bamboo wood. Wooden body, wooden lens barrel, wooden grip, wooden sensor. A release date isn’t known yet because all the prototypes thus far wooden work…

I’ll get my coat.

Poll: How large does everyone here print?

I normally print large up on my Epson SC P800.

I send out to a local gal to print the really big ones...

This was printed @ 24x36 inches framed and mounted in the office of the Manager of Thundering Waters Golf in Niagara Falls ON.

Cameras You Love So Much That One Copy Is Just Not Enough

The flip side is that one might love a camera so much that one can't bear the thought of looking at, let alone touching another body!

I guess I've always been serially monogcamerous with the K-1 being my current photon collecting companion.

If I had a second K-1, I'd be forever agonizing over which one to take for a photo-outing: the older one with it's telltale evidence of the past scrapes of shared adventures or the new one that is unblemished but eager to see the world. Too much pressure! Too much jealousy! I'd better stick to one K-1! ;-)

The K-New will come out after the first week of pumpkin-spice latte season, but before the first week of peppermint-cocoa season. That's "Fall" as I define it. I'm sure Ricoh/Pentax sees it my way.

Abstract January Afternoon on the Farm

Except for one item, this is a nice, quiet rural scene with detailed land features (barn, fences, trees, fields, lighting) and nice layers of clouds. The one item is the smoke, which we've had too much of in Colorado and the rest of the West. Sets off an immediate alarm in me after too many big fires nearby. But I won't let that detract from the image. Very good image. Thanks.

Welcome to the forums. I would start by doing a factory reset. This will give you a fresh start. Then I would run through every button and dial to make sure they function properly. Mainly check the 4 way controller and OK button. Then check the Liveview button to see if Liveview mode works, this button can get lodged out of place. Then the Green button, FX button on the front. Make sure both the front and rear dials are functioning properly. Check the battery and SD card doors for any damage. Make sure the cover for the grip is on the bottom of the camera. With the cover off there is direct access to the inner workings of the camera. Once you get your lenses test all autofocus functions. Make sure the camera is reading apeture correctly. If possible set the lens to f11 and take a photo of a clear blue sky. Check the image over at a 1:1 crop for any issues with the sensor such as hot spots or dead pixels. If you do not have the latest firmware update it.

A good start for settings can be found here Pentax K-3 Review - Recommended Settings | PentaxForums.com Reviews .

You can find reviews here and download manuals Pentax K-3 - Pentax K-mount DSLRs - Pentax Camera Reviews and Specifications .

The latest K3 firmware update can be found here Pentax K-3 Firmware v1.40 Released - Firmware Updates | PentaxForums.com .

The firmware update guide can be found here Pentax Firmware Update Guide - Tutorial Videos | PentaxForums.com .

Congratulations on your new to you camera. I have been buying from Adorama for 30 years. In that time I have only returned two things, both were super easy returns. One was a mislabeled lens and another was a lens with a sticky aperture.

Ken Rockwell on lens sharpness

Taken yesterday, just before I walked my daughter down the aisle. If I re-shot it to get the focus right the emotion would have been lost (and I had more important things to do).

So it's not sharp, but I absolutely love it.

Shall we take a walk?

This one is razor sharp (same lens, same aperture, same camera), but it doesn't move me to the same degree.

AND... Want to do more...?
Try this in LR (should take less than 10 seconds)...

1. Open the DNG file in the DEVELOP module.
2. Open the DETAIL dialog box and go to the Noise Reduction set of sliders.
3. Press the "Alt" key on your PC to turn the image to B&W, then with your mouse pointer, push the Luminance slider to the place on the scale where the noise speckles start to fade, then adjust to suit your fancy (some like to leave a few speckles to keep the image from looking plastic...). Be patient as it may take a moment for the effect to become apparent.
4. Press the Alt key, again and adjust the COLOR slider to remove the color speckles. Again, be patient as it may take a moment or two for the color speckles to dissolve.
5. Go to the SHARPENING set of sliders (above the NR set in the DETAIL dialog box).
6. In your mind, subtract the Luminance adjustment number from 100 and enter that calculation into the AMOUNT slider's adjustment result box. For example, if your Luminance number was 30, enter 70. Notice that the luminance noise you erased earlier has returned. UGH ! Get rid of it by...
7. Press the Alt key on your PC, again, and adjust the MASKING slider to the point that your image appears to be a B&W line drawing.
8. Release the Alt key...

BINGO ! You have killed the image noise AND sharpened it, as needed to fit your taste. Now, let's get that pesky WB under control...
