I’m not sure which is the “A” pin, but I did do as you suggested and I don’t notice any of the pins moving at all.
I’m not aware if the lens been dropped and it appears to be fine, with no signs of damage. |

I've wiped the contacts on the lens with a dry cloth, but that does not seem to help.
The lens is rather stiff to mount, more so than it used to be when I used it successfully in the past.
Unfortunately I don't have another DSLR to test it on.

I have a Pentax K-5II and I am having a problem when I attach my Pentax smc f/1.7 50mm lens to the camera.
I cannot auto focus or adjust the aperture. Is there a faulty connection? I don’t have a problem with any of my other lenses. |

Last week I had the privilege of visiting the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, in the Northern Cape of South Africa, on the borders of Botswana and Namibia.
I made a video compilation of the photos I took there. All photos were taken with a Pentax K-5II with a Sigma 50-500mm lens, with the exception of two wide angle shots of a rainbow and milky way, where I used a Rokinon 14mm lens. |

I set the camera on interval shooting every 13 seconds with the shutter open for 10 seconds at a time. My aperture was f/11, hence the star bursts.

I was shooting at a recent sporting event with my Pentax K-5II and got chatting to a fellow shooter with a Canon.
He mentioned that his camera has a function to tag certain images (in camera) immediately after taking them, which helps with his post-processing workflow later on.
I was intrigued by this function and was wondering if my camera has something similar? I've explored the functions on my camera but can't find anything like it.

Have you tried transferring the photos directly from the camera with the USB cable? That was my only solution.

Thank you for all the helpful advice.
Good news - it's not the camera or the sensor!
I bought a new SD card and the problem persisted, so it's not the SD card either.
My card reader in my computer stopped working recently so I bought a USB Card Reader adaptor, and I think that's where the problem is.
When I plugged in a USB cable directly between my camera and my computer, the photos were all 100% fine.
What a relief...

I have a Pentax K-5II camera, which I have been using extensively over the past few years without any issues.
In the past week or so, I have noticed that many of my shots are ruined by some kind of interference (see sample shots below), and I have no idea what is causing it.
I shoot in RAW and the sample shots below were opened in Lightroom. At first I thought the problem was with my memory card, but the problem persists in another card as well. When I review my shots on the viewfinder on the camera, they all look 100% fine. I then thought there might be a software problem with Lightroom, so I downloaded Raw Therapee and the problem exists there as well.
Is there a problem with my camera?

I took over 50 exposures of 10 seconds each, hoping that there would be a lightning strike during each exposure. I managed to capture about 8 strikes.

The "abrasion/corrosion" on the left of the left side of the LCD is not what it appears to be - it's a bad photo taken with my cellphone and it actually is a reflection off some perspiration/oil from my skin! There's no marks or scratches there at all. Here's another (better) photo of the side.
I do not recall having bumped the camera recently, other than one case over a week ago when another photographer in front of me stepped backwards into my camera while we were at a sporting event - her head hit my camera quite hard.
The only other possible cause is that I was shooting in a light drizzle last weekend when I first noticed the lines appearing and it was also quite cold weather.

Thanks, I will live with them for now, unless they get much worse. I imported the camera from the USA to South Africa, so I guess I would need to send it back to the USA to get it replaced.
Any idea what could cause that?

Recently I have noticed that vertical lines are appearing on the back screen of my camera. They don't appear on the final image though.
Any ideas as to why this is happening and how to fix it? |
